i found this remake. it works really well. they seem to have taken the good from "NGU" and mixed it with the classic SWG. it blends really well and is really enjoyable. I am enjoying some nostalgia from it. let me know if you play on here.

SWG Restoration

SWG was one of the first MMOs that I really got into and I still have a soft spot for it. Star Citizen is kind of a spiritual successor to it I suppose but man that really takes me back!

I never experienced it but love these faithful fan remakes like this, Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe, the Total Annihilation open source efforts... Check even 1984's Sopwith remake....

Some things were so good they don't deserve to be lost to time :glorious:

Oh, I loved Galaxies. First MMO I really got into, and man was I hooked up until the bitter end.
I didn't care for the NGE on the ground so I kept myself in space, looting great parts and re-engineering them.
I was a triple-threat smuggler back in the day, who used to get really lucky slices on weapons and armor all the time.
I had a good rep on the server (radiant) and made tons of money slicing... ah those were the days.

Back when SWG was announced and news were slowly coming out, I used to load up the webpage about the news, save it, and Print it. Onto paper!
In black an white. It was still waaaay cheaper than having the dial-up internet remain connected as I tried to read through all of it.
I only played SWG when it was free for a bit before it's shut down. I got into WoW instead due to timing and other circumstances...

I'll save that link, maybe I'll give it a try one day!

Ultima Online really did it for me. I miss that game soooooo much and the great times I had with my then guild. I wonder what they are all doing 25+ years later.

yes, UO is still up and running. I know people who still play on Atlantic as well. I played from the second age expansion/re-release. I stopped because of the rampant PKing.

I played SWG from launch (when the servers came up) to after JTL. I stopped mostly because SOE did not have a great recovery methodology for when you got disconnected (went link dead). It used to take about 5 minutes for your character to die or finally disconnect. Since I was living in a Residence Inn at that point (we were moving and I lived there for a year while my wife looked for a job and then sold the house), and they reset ALL internet connections pretty much on the hour. Once I discovered you could just reconnect in WoW after being disconnected, I switched to there from EQ/EQII/SWG.

Yeah sad to say I jumped from SWG to WOW shortly after JTL as well. I ultimately spent way more time in WOW but SWG always had something special about it no other MMO could replicate.

SWG was an amazing game. I loved the harvesting and crafting system, and building homes.

and once space ships came out i was in love with the flying. Put on some sweet music and go pve was great.
I was doing it to Rihanna's "Pon de Replay".... it has a constant high beat
