Ah. Well. They totally can, they're directly incentivised to do so as alphabet is primarily ad revenue.. And, they own chrome so like 66% of the internet for the average consumer is through their lens. They don't really care about anyone outside of their own sphere because it's like not most of the market (a classic Microsoft level of arrogance).

Not hugely surprised, AI is going to find stuff like this with a prompt "how do I make these damn ads work better", written by some PM or finance director. We're getting it ourselves, it somehow makes everything so much more soulless.
