2500 k CPU owner here with an ancient 7850 GPU and 8 gigs of ram considering some upgrades. Any testies out there still have their 2500k with a newer GPU like a 970? If so, how does it perform with SC? I'm trying to gauge how my setup will perform in the near future with a GPU and ram upgrade versus buying new.

I'm running a 3570 with no overclock with a 970 and 16gb of ram. From what I can tell the 2500K is rated about 10% less performant than the 3570, but can be OC'd a bit more. Performance for me is still very good in SC, typical hitting a fairly steady 60fps at 1080p resolution with the stock top detail settings, although there are small dips occasionally, usually never lower than 40ish. Honestly I don't play AC enough right now to stand by these numbers on the current version, I've heard some optimization bugs showed up after the merge.

I have a 2500k with a 970. I OC'ed the turbo boost of the 2500k to 4.0 GhZ, with an aftermarket cooler. I have the Gigabyte G1 Gamin 970 (the 13-inch long one, make sure it will fit in your case). I play at 1080p with most settings maxed, and get 50-60fps ~75% of the time, and above 30 99% of the time

I plan to upgrade my system in another year, minimum, to the latest gen intel and keep the 970. As of now, I haven't had any issues with my 2500k

These 1080p peasants.

I play at 8k downsampled to 920p like a true PC master race God
