Knew it. And that's why we all got Geminis the second they announced the base had risen in price!

What? When did... uh? What?

EDIT: actually, wasn't that a mistake?
240-195= $45 --> the difference back then
340-300= $40 --> the difference now.
So isn't it better to upgrade now than it was before? Please tell me what I'm missing.

May be better to upgrade now, but it was sure better to buy outright when it cost 100 bucks less.

A lot of us "acquired" Gemini when they mentioned the increase. We weren't given them from Starfarers.

But, yes, if you already have a Starfarer then it's cheaper now to upgrade.

Imagine her hangar ready in 2.4
It's a possibility. They seem to be sticking with 1 hangar 1 flight ready ship per month. Everyone thinks the Starfarer will be the flight, but they did say long ago they didn't want it flying until you could do the fueling. And in a recent RtV Ben said the Reliant would be in 2.4 in one form or another.

To me that says it could be the flight ready ship. But that leaves the hangar ready as a guess. However, Disco's recent post about how they're going to mention the price of new concept ships a week beforehand has been added to stating the Gemini would also be raising. Why would he say that unless it were to be sold again soon? And the only reason it'd go on sale is because it's hangar ready!

Or I could be wrong and they mentioned the Gemini because they were talking about concept ships being cheaper. But I thought Ben outright said it was raising too.

This. Disco's thread just added that update. So it's probably going to be hanger ready in 2.4. So what will we be flying I wonder...
Most people have been guessing the Starfarer. And it's probably not a bad guess. Although that would make it jump to $400 and be a worse value than a Gemini at $340 when it goes Hangar ready.

Did they ever actually say that the price would go up another 100? Or did they say it would 'go up a bit'.
I can't see it going up that much again. But who's to say.

Fairly certain in an RtV Ben said it went up about a hundred in hangar ready and "once it's flight ready it should go up a similar amount". It was the RtV shortly after the Starfarer went hangar ready and they only spoke of the price increase for less than a minute, but it was there.

The reliant supposedly has been in flight testing. So It maybe the flight ready ship, but then they have been doing the same with the starfarer as well. At least they are not behind. There will be some other jumps as well whilst I doubt the caterpillar will jump a lot there will also be modules to buy and you can almost guarantee they just give you cargo for free to meet the "expected specs". I am glad some of you have bought fuel trucks though as I thought the starfarer failed rule 1).

Oh its a fantastically bad investment as far as investments go. The Starfarer is in no way worth 300 dollars, much less 400. By the time the PU launches you will be able to get one for free.

But it's a great buy if you have 300 dollars you were planning or don't mind pledging to CIG. Great bulk hauler, refueler, refiner, tanker. Starfarer is a great ship for non combat roles, and if that's up your alley and you have money to burn then there are plenty worse options out there for you.

I think he meant if you had gotten at original price of $195

I like this full disclosure.

Also glad I already bought my Star-G.

Edit: fixed the oops on the link
I was reaaallly on the brink of buying a 'farer. But I didn't do it since the time, CIG/RSI released that ship for everyone to have a look onto/into it. For sure, CIG wanted to convince more backers to invest in the Starfarer by making her availabe for everyone in the hangars. Now, as I stepped into that space refinery/tanker while this limited time, I have to admit first being impressed about this huge size. But at the same time I began to ask myself: what shall I do with this big space cow? Just hanging around and waiting for ships to be fueled up? And whats about the crew - what are they doing all the time? For sure I want to own *one* larger multicrew ship. But it should be more like hanging in space even without much hope to defend yourself against pirates. 'cause that is for sure: a Starfarer only makes sense at the borders of space where fuel is short and long ranged ships need to fuel up. Ergo the Starfarer will always need a lineup of fighters or/and kind of a small battlestation-ship/-fregate to be secure out there, won't she? Furtheron, since that Starfarer-hangar-showtime I ask myself if there will be such a mechanism will be implemented in SC which allows a KI to takeover common and regular actions like within the PC Game "The Patrician", where the KI is running shipping routes or trading stations - more or less successfull ...
Anyway, finally I decided to buy the Carrack. Why? While in my opinion it should be possible to make SP runs using the Aquila, it could quite be fun to set up an exploring session during a weekend night shift with some TESTies. But what'd you do with a Starfarer...?
(sidenote: no offense to all owners of a 'farer ;) )
