Use nexus mod manager or mod organizer rather than steam workshop to mod your Skyrim up. Also, you may need LOOT (a load order organizer). Steam workshop doesn't handle load orders well. GopherVids on youtube has really good tutorials on some of the more technical aspects of getting your mods working although some may be somewhat out of date.
I've spent probably sunk 10x the time I've spent playing Skyrim as I have modding it. I've usually ran Skyrim with around 250 mods running and kind of doubt I'd recognize it vanilla. So if you have questions, I might be able to point you in the right direction for answers.
But if you're looking to make your Skyrim... very, very far from vanilla... and very, very far from PG... I could tell you were to look... if you're old enough to vote... if it won't get me banned...
