There is a lot wrong with this. We are not a company, regisrered trade mark or a charity. The only tangeable benefit will be for you. Lets not mistake ourselves for anything more then a group of people with a common interest and while you do a lot of work, this is for a hobby and not a job.

Thanks for your post, but with all due respect you are a completely wrong and have no vision of where this is all going.

Actually, we are.

We have roles, we have HR, we have media dept, we have IT guys, we have artists, we have a stream team and a lot more.

It seems to me that you assumed that we put up a forum and magically people arrived and made this community amazing.

Getting to this point took thousands of hours of work, planning, meetings, more meetings. It did not happen as a happy accident.

This is work event for me.

I am representing the brand, meeting with our streamers, long time members and CIG.

Actually I take it back, you are right, I do benefit. The benefit to me is the connections and relationships I form, which benefit this organization as a whole.. which benefit you too. We all benefit.

Yes! We are 10,000 people with a common interest. A group this size need some sort of coordination, direction and planning. If only somebody would step up and do it!

At 100 members, this was a hobby.

At 400 members, this was a 8hr/wk hobby.

At 10,000 members it is no longer a hobby. Im putting +60hrs a week into this, it was a hobby that is turning out to be a lot more!

If youre not able to afford this then i dont think its appropriate to ask or encourage others to pay.

You being here on this forum and this community means you have directly benefited from our efforts here.

If you don't give a shit and just want to hang out, no problem we cater to exactly that.

BUT, if you enjoy this community and want to see what the next few years can bring, then helping me push forward is what this and future trips are about.

I find this more about what you want to do and asking us to contribute. While the request was set up by another you clearly support it despite being in a position to change this.

I feel that the most appropriate option if you want to go is to pay for this yourself. If youre not able to afford this then i dont think its appropriate to ask or encourage others to pay.

He definitely gets paid by other members that 100% donate their money without being asked so Montoya can dedicate as much time as possible to represent this community and make it better then what it is already. 10k members isnt enough, we demand more hours, unpaid overtime, and zero insurance. In return all I ask for is one beer when I come visit him in raleigh. No one is forcing anyone to donate, but we do so willingly because he is our leader, but he has a family, that doesn't include us here, and a life that hasn't reached the point yet where he can 100% support every single endeavor to every single event to represent us as our leader.

I helped run a community with my friend for 10 years, so I know where you are coming from and how much work it takes. It takes an absurd amount of effort to achieve what TEST has done here. I agree with him as well, no one should have to feel they have to support in any monetary way, but whether we believe it or not it can not work without money. It is awesome that we have so many members that are willing to help out and make this place their home. This mutual understanding still doesnt mean you get paid overtime. We regretfully need to inform you as well that your severance pay will be cut.

edit: forgot to mention everything here that requires monetary support to happen has been donated and never been a requirement.

Don't know about the severance package... But I'm sure in the clause he signed we own the rights to his body if he ever left Test. Montoya isn't just a person but a symbol of Test as much as beer and auroras crashing into a sun.....

Also in prior donation drives for organization funded ships and such it was always out our to don't donate money if you can't. I'm sure it was during the javelin drive that Montoya or Seung actually told someone no donations due to a members financial limitation being mentioned. We really are a good group of drunks with a spaceship buying addiction.
