I think we’re going to need to wait and see. CIG was very specific in their sneak peek that precision targeting used to require you to target the barrel of a weapon and now all the targetable portions of the ship light up in wireframe. They showed this in the vid. If they won’t let you target past 930m, then this is obviously just another waste of time and this is getting really old.

I get they want to stop fighters killing big ships but this is out of control.
This should have been part of the plan from the beginning. In the real world, smaller sensors have less range and have harder time trying to burn through ECM.

Chris Roberts wants fighter combat to be so close you can recognize the enemy pilot by his helmet. He wants pilots to be able to communicate with their opponents with hand gestures.


Therefore, I would expect this to, pretty much, remain.

I get that. I don’t get why there are weapons with 5km range and 5km/s speed, given what you’re saying.

Tracking sensitivity is a sliding scale they can slide however they like. If what they like is to REQUIRE close combat and DISABLE sniping, they shouldn’t have sniping weapons.

So, in some outrage that CIG is nerfing sniping, I lashed out and calculated what all the missiles on 8 Fury MX could do to a Perseus if it couldn’t kill the tiny S1 and S2 missiles they carry. They offer combined 384k HP damage and the Perseus has 389k HP. I dunno exactly what that means except they will fuck it up.

Not really a solution since missiles can’t precision target, but maybe they would kill enough turrets and PDWs to let the Tally’s torps through. Seems likely to me.
