Thought it would be good to make a post with a round up of all gpus.

From Nvidia:
GTX 1080 starting at 600 (700 founders edition aka reference)
GTX 1070 starting at 350-380

Rumored:
GTX 1060 ~250-280 (soon)
GTX 1080ti ~700 (before end of year?)

From AMD:
480 200 for 4gb, 250 for 8gb

Rumored:
490 (very little information)
Vega gpu set (high end performance, due in october/november)

NOTICES:

Asus Strix 1080/1070: Users are reporting issues with Overclocking and fan issues. If someone has one let me know if you experiencing these issues. Until then please read up on them to see if this is a troll or legit problems. 900 series both Asus Strix and EVGA FTW cards had issues, so its not uncommon.

Nvidia is using their new Pascal Architecture that uses TSMC 16nm finfet manufacturing process. This means it could use almost half the space as their previous model and get the same performance. The downfall is you are increasing the heat. You have a much more confined space for all the cores. The good thing is space and electricity usage.

Something new is the High Bandwidth SLI Bridge. This bridge doubles the bandwidth of 2-way SLI cards. Nvidia no longer recommends 3 or 4 way SLI. This is due to DX12 taking SLI coding away from AMD/Nvidia and into the hands of developers. Majority of Developers only support 2-way SLI/Xfire. You can use 3 or 4 way SLI with a enthusiast Token.

Specs:

GTX 1080

GPU:
2560 CUDA Cores
1607 MHz Base Clock
1733 MHz Boost Clock
~2100MHz Over Clock (while using aftermarket cooling)

VRAM:
8GB GDDR5X (faster than normal GDDR5, but not as fast as HBM)
10000 MHz
320GB/s Bandwidth

Power:
Power draw: 180 watts
1x 8 pin connector

Misc:
PCIe 3.0 16x slot
DVI-D, 3x Displayport, HDMI
High Bandwidth SLI Bridge

Relative power to other cards:
2x 980/390x/480x in sli/Xfire

Cost:
600 for manufacturer cards up to 700 for special cards like EVGA Classifieds. 700 for Founders Edition.

GTX 1070

GPU:
1920 CUDA Cores
1506 MHz Base Clock
1683 MHz Boost Clock
~1900 MHz Over Clock (while using aftermarket cooling)

VRAM:
8GB GDDR5
8000 MHz
256GB/s Bandwidth

Power:
Power draw: 150 watts
1x 8 pin connector

Misc:
PCIe 3.0 16x slot
DVI-D, 3x Displayport, HDMI
High Bandwidth SLI Bridge

Relative power to other cards:
980ti/Fury X, higher than a single 480 but lower than xfire 480s.

Cost:
TBD. Rumored 350-380.

GTX 1060 RUMORED!!!

GPU:
~1700 CUDA Cores
~1350 MHz Base Clock
~1450 MHz Boost Clock
???? MHz Over Clock (while using aftermarket cooling)

VRAM:
~6-8GB GDDR5
7000 MHz
256GB/s Bandwidth

Power:
Power draw: ~120-130 watts
1x 6 pin connector

Misc:
PCIe 3.0 16x slot
DVI-D, 3x Displayport, HDMI
High Bandwidth SLI Bridge

Relative power to other cards:
980/390x/480

Cost:
TBD. Rumored 250.

AMD is using their refined of their GCN Architecture ( a workhorse for AMD since the 7000 series) called Polaris that uses SAMSUNG 14nm finfet manufacturing process. This means it could use almost half the space as their previous model and get the same performance. The downfall is you are increasing the heat. You have a much more confined space for all the cores. The good thing is space and electricity usage.

Interesting fact about the new Polaris is that it uses LPP, a process that aims to lower power usage. So we won't see anymore 300W 290x .

Specs:

AMD 480

GPU:
2304 Stream Processors
~1200 MHz Base Clock (rumored)
~1300 MHz Boost Clock (rumored)
????MHz Over Clock (while using aftermarket cooling)

VRAM:
8GB GDDR5
8000 MHz
256GB/s Bandwidth

Power:
Power draw: 150 watts
1x 6 pin connector

Misc:
PCIe 3.0 16x slot
3x Displayport, HDMI

Relative power to other cards:
Between 970 and 980 (AMD reps words not mine, I expect 980 performance) (rumored 1060)

Cost:
200 for 4gb version, 250 for 8gb version. VR users recommend more than 4gb as VR does use higher resolution, so get the 8gb.

First I would just like to say if you can -WAIT-. Both will have stronger GPU's soon. Nvidia is producing GP100 the big brother of the GP104 that 1080 uses. AMD has not even shown a top end one but we know Vega was pushed up almost a full year, showing they didn't expect the 1080 to be so powerful.

HBM is not forecasted for VEGA or 1080ti at this point, stay tuned.

I think the point of AMD's 480 is to take back market share from Nvidia. They aren't focused on profits as much as market share. This is dangerous as AMD is currently on the red or running close to red in finances.

Nvidia is holding back their punches and there is MAJOR issues with the reference cooler. Get an aftermarket cooler. EVGA will be offering their Hybrids again which were wildly popular. My talk to Jacob and he has assured that EVGA has planned to make more hybrids available so they aren't always sold out. Also EVGA hybrid will have their modular AIO cooling kits available. No longer will you be stuck to a single 120mm radiator. This is good news for those that want a custom loop but don't want the hassle.

Sapphire has not responded if they plan on using their hybrid kit they prototyped last year.

I have Dual 960's in SLI mode. I'll never do SLI again, it causes flickering in SC and many VR games. They really need to kill SLI-too slow, 1080's a giant leap forward and, cheaper to boot....I guess you can wait for AMD to come out with Polaris, but typically they aren't as good as Nvidia cards. A single 1080 is 4X faster than dual 960's and cheaper . Check out the new MSI 1080 card:
and the Asus Strix:

I have a GTX 970 4G, but I'm not playing any games that are graphically demanding.
Either when SC or something else I want to play comes out and I won't be able to run it smoothly, I'll buy the meanest card at the time. If that time is soon, it'll be the 1080.

The rumor mill is working overtime churning about the 480. If even half of the rumors are true, it will be very tough for anything to even touch it at its price point.

Risky move by AMD, but it could pay off big time. Most people are not buying the 700-800 dollar cards, and if the 480 can get great 1440/1080p performance at that price point, it could be the de facto card for more budget builds. Not to mention with DX12, SLI/Crossfire has better scaling so it might be better for VR if you could have 2 cards (one for each eye for instance, or one for main rendering and another for FXAA or the other shiny bits), and 2 480(x)s would still be cheaper than a 1080.

It could backfire a lot, but I really hope this goes well for AMD. The competition between them and Nvidia makes both companies strive to do bigger and better things.

I have to admit, I want a more powerful card than the 480 for my next upgrade, but it's simply too tempting at that price. It's not a terribly large amount of money to throw out and I can always buy another one later if I want to dip into enthusiast levels of performance. That said, Ill give it a little longer. Who knows what amd still have up their sleeves.

The rumor mill is working overtime, but per their presentation and AMD rep on OC.net they were saying between 970 and 980 performance. If 1060 comes out soon as a similar price point then there is competition. Remember the 960 also released at 200 dollars.

You are right most people don't spend 700-800 dollars but rather a majority of gamers buy 300-400 dollar cards. The 970 was the best selling card for a long time until 390x. Both of these were 300-400 dollars. Gamers don't go for top end but just below it, it seems.

Most VR do NOT support SLI/Xfire. Steam/HTC and Occulus/Facebook recommend single GPU. Nvidia has supposedly overcame this with VRWorks but that is to be seen. Yes though 2 480s would be cheaper, but its still 500 bucks vs 600 bucks and then you aren't getting the power of a 1080 still. The 480s are more aimed at 500 buck console killer builds that are getting popular. It's not a huge profit area though.

I have to admit, I want a more powerful card than the 480 for my next upgrade, but it's simply too tempting at that price. We will be waiting until end of year for Vega unfortunately.

Finally I got more info on 1070 overclock.
The information on 480's keeps changing, going to be updating it as more facts are confirmed.
