For years my drink of choice has been tequila, slightly watered or "neat". Almost every time I order it I explain "No ice. None of those sharp little straws hanging out to poke and eye, or fruits or vegetables in my drink. Just tequila and a little water." Most people don't realize booze is bottled at 80 proof because that is the minimum to give it what is essentially an unlimited shelf-life. People who actually enjoy the flavor of their drink will need to water it below 60 proof in order to taste what goes in their mouth. Maybe you don't care about that, but if you drink Scotch without watering it, you are a moron.
So no joke, I explain this to each waitress, waiter and bartender for more than a decade now and 9 times out of 10 they will bring me a drink with ice in it. WTF?!
