I apologize about the delay in putting up the post for nominations as I am on vacation currently. We will take 5 days for nominations and then the last 5 days of the month for voting on the nominees.
Same concept as previous nominations phases, 1 per person, anyone is welcome to participate!
Please provide the book title, author, and a brief description as to why you are nominating it, or a brief synopsis (without spoiling the story).

I will nominate Mortal Engines by Philip Reeve.
I saw the newest movie trailer recently and it looked totally fuckin awesome. Any trailer that captures my attention like that, surely has to have a kick ass book, seeing as how almost all books are better than their movies.

It's about cities eating other cities. Yes please.

I nominate Seven Deadly Wonders, by Matthew Reilly (Seven Ancient Wonders for those of you not in NA lol).
It's a pretty decent archaeological thriller type thingy. It's next in line on my 'reread that one book from like ten years ago' list.

Reason for Nomination: Fast paced story that has some awesome dog fighting scenes and flight school training. Think Top Gun meets Enders Game meets How to train your Dragon. Memorable and the first book in a series. Brandon Sanderson can do no wrong with the quality of books he releases in my eyes, this is his first foray into Sci-Fi and he pulls it off really well.

I haven't read books in a while, but since the days are gettin shorter and colder, I'm back into Sci-Fi.
So here's my two cents:

The book (actually a trilogy) is called "The Three-Body Problem" by Cixin Liu. Originally released in 2007 or '08 in China, it got translated into all kinds of languages after winning literature and science awards.

This trilogy gives you an insight of how evolution might have taken place in a system with three suns and how the civilization on such planets may have evolved. Secondly, how these space travelling aliens react to other species when their existence in on the line aaand how the human race may cope under such circumstances.

Overall, it's more Sci than Fi and, if you're into it, you may learn sth about astrophysics along the way.
