I was listening to some Vietnam War music (Rolling Stones, Buffalo Springfield, that kinda stuff) and a thought came to my head. Can we have a TEST Ground Unit? Infantry Unit? Boarding unit? When we take over others during war, we need a team (at maximum I would say 100-150 people) to board the ship and execute or capture all on board hostiles.

Good Idea or not? I'm thinking real tactics here, with like a US Navy Seals vibe to it.

anything that can be done and is worth doing, we will have a team for. Rest assured. There will be no more official groups other than rock raiders and racing until release, no point.

We should have an official strike team. Imagine it. A control center...messages blaring over radios "Strike Team Omega, take left position, Strike Team Alpha, take flank position". Sounds cool to me.

we will wait to see what the game mechanics allow and organize around that

theorycraft all you like, but be prepared to start over from scratch when the game goes live

What your describing has a bit of an Arma 3 mixed with Battlefield fibe to it (which is what I think CR wants, so joepie!). If you'd like to do more then theory craft and actually gather up some soon to be doomed souls to participate, it could be an idea to try and get a group playing Arma, battlefield or something similar while keeping the focus on strike team.

And when 3.0 is out you can add some SC action. (3.0 because of Star-network-thing)

The success of a group in Arma or Battlefield (and especially something like Squad) usually depends on the cohesion... Which in turn depends on the Squad Lead. Me point being, not really a point, really a number of questions...

how formal would you envision this strike team to be?
Would you have a traditional hierarchy that may go against the normal TEST belief?
Why should we have a strike team, what benefits does it give (extra beer, more waffles, cool music?)

Though, I think the Yellow Jackets are already pretty close to this and I think individual (combat/strike/trade/pirating/freelancing) groups will form through friendship. For now its still wait and see, but speaking from past experience (Used to have my own successful guild for Age of Conan, before it was out... we we're top guild for 3 weeks then we crumbled to dust) it usually turns out that people shift to different roles and play styles after a release.

So pretty much this:

theorycraft all you like, but be prepared to start over from scratch when the game goes live

Wonder how you will try to fit 100 -150 TESTies into a single Auoroa and try to kill the pilot...
