I gotta ask, your handle, is it from the sword of French literature, or is it in reference to the airstrip denial weapon?
Can't it be both? Back in my younger nerd days I liked the idea of an indestructible blade that could cleave rocks. Course in my military days, I also very much liked watching them deploy the weapon. Seeing pavement shatter like a breaking wave is highly entertaining.

I saw the vulcan as running consumables to the escort ships and patching the larger vessels while Starfarer is out picking up its own harvest or refining it. No matter the situation you decide to tool for specifically, you've got a wonderful mobile Rear HQ coordinating, supplying and reinforcing.

I would definitely throw at least one, if not two, Vultures in my Kraken if I ever manage to get one.

I really really like the look of the Kraken for a base of operations - The basic nature of being a carrier means that if coupled with the right ships it could be that one stop mobile base for all your needs as others have mentioned a Vulcan will keep ships repaired and fuelled up, A cutlass or cutlass sized ship perhaps at a squeeze the new Valkyrie could fit and serve as the Kraken escort throw in a terrapin for exploration a vulture for salvage and a prospector for mining lol and a solid fighter like a hornet and that's just the landing pads there's also the internal hangar bays then you can have multiple dragonflys or other bikes and ground vehicles all in all potentially giving you a nice rounded personal fleet carrier ship....

I would actually rather trade the Vulcan out for a crucible as the Kraken has refueling and repair facilities build in, there is an interior drydock hangar for repairs.

Throw in a hospital endeavor for closer re-spawning for drunken mining accidents..

So basically this is turning into the starwars rebel fleet at the edge of space.

Can't really trade the Vulcan for a Crucible, as a Crucible being a large ship, would not fit into the internal hangar. The Vulcan would be for minor repairs and refueling of vessels that would not fit into the hangar.

Now, having a Crucible alongside as an additional ship to the "outpost", that is a good option as well, as it can do things the Vulcan is not designed to do. But it would increase your fleet from two QD ships needed (Kraken, and 890) to three.

That's the point, the Crucible just floats next to the Kraken handling serious repairs while the Kraken keeps smaller ships running.

The Kraken does have two docking collars on opposite sides, so that does open up options for a floating resort of sorts.

I think the carriers will have to carry fuel for the fighters.

I was looking at this and thinking:

2 Prospectors (Small ships)
1 Hull B (Medium ship)
1 Sabre and 1 Hurricane (Small ships)
1 Eclipse (Medium ship)

This would be great for extended planetary or asteroid mining, and could handle just about anything Pirates can throw at you.

Just my thoughts.
I would add 2 F8 Lightnings and get rid of the Hull B, which is not necessary due to the Cargo capacity of the Kraken

Remember, it's a base of operations, one of the better options (if you are going somewhere to setup) might be to just carry security ships without long range, the other larger support ships can follow in convoy, using the same jump points. Once there, you start rotating out the duty roster.
