I saw this video today, and I have to tell you, these THINGS are getting set to take over. They won't be just dating your daughter, soon, you will be out in the street with a child support bill and Mr. Beepbeepboopboop will be living in your house with your ex-wife and your kids calling him daddy.

Now I know some of you are rolling your eyes and thinking that Tealwraith has watched Terminator too many times, but lots of other big names agree with me. Google it.

We need to get serious about this before it's too late and you find yourself with cyborg grandkids, changing oil instead of diapers!

The issue for mechanical/electronic life forms is we biologicals already have the most efficient energy system going with our Carbon Base - i'm on a diet right now and 2000cal a day is very very hard to come under when a sandwich and a packet of crisps takes you well over 500cal.

Beyond their energy issue, a M/E sentient life-form will also have the issue of the sun - once every so often it reaches out with the solar winds and screws up all the satellites, and has even knocked out whole cities electrical grids just because it hiccuped and farted at the same time. It's not a matter of if, it a matter of when. When it happens it'll bugger up modern society for a good long time, too, but when it happens biologicals'll still be nomming on salad cooked over the burning circuit boards of Siri, Alexa and HeyGoogle (such a romantic name).

You gotta feel sorry for any electronicly based sentient.
