What happens to my crashed ship?

What is the intent of CIG with respect to crashed player ships?
Do they persist as salvage? Like I crash my ship into an asteroid. I hop on my alt and come start salvaging the wreck. I watch my alt gobble up the remains then I go reclaim my ship.
Looks like an easy way to make a living/cash.
Is this going to be a thing?

For the moment ship just disappear, for the future yes, the wreck cargo and eventually your body will remain there for salvaging and looting, either by yourself or other player.
Concerning the exploitation of doing money with that remember that "reclaiming the ship" will be an action related to the insurance, and also to the system you are reclaiming from: an Aurora will be quite easy to re-obtain, but for larger ship that will be another topic.
I'm also quite sure that the time and cost of reclaiming will rise up quite fast if you continiusly crash the ship, especially for the larger one.

Yep the larger the ship to be reclaimed, the longer it will take. Large ships will take in-game weeks, or even more. It is just the general idea, but we have no number so far.
