Which Hornet?

The Sabre has 4 size 3 missiles stock, which could also be 8 size 2. the Hornet has 2 size 1 and 2 size 2, which could be 6 size 2. The Super Hornet has 4 Size 2. The Sabre is more agile and has 4 of the same gun mounts. All 3 are, primarily, gun based fighters. That does not mean missiles don't have their place on these ships. Giving up both agility and missile loadout seems like a poor choice to me. And yes, you can really feel the agility difference between the Sabre and the Super Hornet.
Agility difference between the Sabre and the SH is clear, I was talking about the agility difference between the regular Hornet and SH. SH = Super Hornet, not Sabre.

Re the, missiles, according to the DPS calculator, the sabre can do 16 size 1, 8 size 2, 4 size 3, and 2 size 4. The Hornet can do 12 size 1, 6 size 2, and 2 size 3. The SH can do 8 size 1, 4 size 2, and 2 size 3. To me, this is not a too big difference between the Hornet and a SH, but a significant difference between the Sabre and the hornets.

Re the guns, according to the same calculator, the Sabre can do either 4 size 2 gimbaled, or 4 size 3 fixed. The SH can do a combination of 5 size 2 gimbaled, 3 size 3 fixed, 1 size 4. You can also swap 1 size 2 for 2 size 1 on the nose. The difference in guns firepower is significant between the Sabre and the SH. If you only look at gimbaled, to leave the player skill out of equation, the SH has about a 1/3 more guns firepower.

The agility difference between the Hornet and Super Hornet is something I notice. (Yes, I also notice the loss of agility between the Sabre and the Hornet.)
There is no difference between the Hornet and the Super Hornet in either component slots or guns (Now that you can, again, buy the turrets for the Hornet in the in game stores.) . The Super Hornet has a afew more hull points and a second seat for the loss of the agility and the two missile rails. That is not a trade off I really want.

You like the Super Hornet, I get it. So does my better half. It is a good ship. I prefer the Hornet.

I am trying to figure out what the differences are between the F7C, the F7CS (other than the stealth which I am going to mess up by putting high grade Mil components in it. :) ), the F7CR and the F7C Wildfire.
Does the F7CR lose agility? Do I get anything other than the Radar (Which has no real purpose currently but will later).
The F7CS has, IMHO, the best paint, but I have to replace all of the components for my purpose and I expect to be able to buy different paint anyway. :) Is the "Void Armor" more fragile than regular Armor?
The F7C WIldfire starts with the Size 4 gimballed Revenant but it used to include the 2 gun Ball Turret. Is it, otherwise, the same as the stock F7C?

And of course, since I have an LTI Token that can become an F7C (I was planning on having it become a Hull-B.) the next question becomes what do I then do with the Sabre? (Which is a whole different question. :) )

You dont get 70 dollars more ship when you buy a Super Hornet over a standard.

Certainly now all of the bits that make the super hornet “super” can be purchased in game, and will stay on the ship even when you reclaim it.

I also prefer the Hornet to the Sabre, but the model looks like dogshit and CIG refuse to give us the updated model so I dont currently own one.

My medium fighters are the San Tok’yai and Defender, just because they look better.

IF we were able to "slave" the turret of the Hurricane to the Pilot's control, then I'd say skip the hornets & how blow your adversaries with a Hurricane. I'd say that if that was possible, it would be mid way between the hornet & the F8C.

They reckon they are going to do that at some point, and at that point it will be awesome, hopefully it has enough CPU power for a full auto turret as well.

Supah Hornet doesn't need CPU power for the turret

just put a turret gunner in the second seat, duh!

Without a back seater the SuperHornet turret is already pilot controlled. It is also pilot controlled if you put it on any of the other Hornets.

I, personally, prefer the flashfire mount. Run it with gimballed GT215s and a Revenant for full gimballed or run it with GT220s and a Revanant for maximum Brrrrrrrt!

I had a Hurricane but trade it in for an Ares as I was not as impressed with its maneuverability vs firepower when compared to a Hornet or Sabre. Its the same issue I currently have with the Sabre comet and its Scattergun which seem great on paper but I am finding it difficult to close the distance fast enough to use them to their full effect while not being shot.

When it comes to the Hornet the Wildfire seems to be in the sweet spot stock as the little extra dps helps out a lot given the more brawler like fighting that the hornet engages in. The downside is a slower SCM which can make it harder to keep up if flying around obstacles. So I find it easier to just keep them at a med distance and light them up. Of course you'll get hit a few times but whats a brawler without a few bruises.

This is the thing, for the vast majority of players scatter guns are a terrible choice.

If you have the ability to mount 2 S4s, and can fly for shit you just mount Rhinos on there and kill other fighters before they get into gun range.

Or Revenants.

My Vanguard is running the CF557 and GVSR. If your target survives to size 2 range, it doesn't survive much longer. :)

I think its more than ones flying ability when it comes to scatterguns. I think they are far more of a nitch use as you really have to close the distance quickly without your target seeing you. And up against other players in the arena or even against the AI in the verse currently that really is not an option.

But ya for now I just replace the scatterguns the ship itself is fun to fly.

Just grab one off the drying rack any time you need a new one, and then who cares which is the best! What, you don't have a Hornet drying rack? Filthy casual...

I prefer more maneuverability over the extra seat cos I'll be playing solo more. But, I do feel like they will keep changing the Hornets stats around up until the very day SQ42 is released, as those will feature a lot in that game. I'd wait and not choose a Hornet just yet. Also CitCon and anniversary sale are not far off, maybe you can grab a new or military variant?
