Okay, I'm in the market to finally upgrade to 144hz. I'm rocking an i7-8700 six core clocked @3.20Ghz and a GTX 1070 slightly overclocked.

The two monitors I'm looking at are a DELL 27" 144Hz 2ms Response time for $189.99 and an Acer 24" 144Hz 1ms Response time for $199.99.

The response times are not a huge deal to me, seeing how they are 1 millisecond apart from each other.

Acer: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06ZYHZ6R6/?coliid=I1MSC3WD7F64IG&colid=2AR5Y9975A1VT&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

DELL: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J4SXNQ5/?coliid=I1XO56TC85WI3S&colid=2AR5Y9975A1VT&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

I personally am leaning more towards the Dell, yes reviews say the colors are washed out a bit, but it's a 27" and would be the largest monitor I've had with the largest refresh rate.

What do you think I should get? I can't really spend more than the $199.99 Acer monitor, that's the most I can spend.

You gotta wait for the 81 inch super wide monitor.

27" is a lil on the larger size for 1080p. prob won't bother you for gaming but daily use it might get to you or may not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I use a 34" 1080p ultrawide and I can't say anything negative about it. It still feels like a ton of space.

Look at 2k 144 Hz monitors unless your budget is under 200.

At this time, 4K is a waste, but 2k has a great picture and can have great response times too.

I agree that if those two monitors are the only ones you are considering, go with the larger one.

Also, what games do you tend to play? If your not playing a lot of FPS's and more adventure games such as Star Citizen, then having a super high refresh rate isn't much of an advantage. I would suggest getting a higher resolution monitor over something with 144hz. Take this one for example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CG41Y8Z/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_DoWwCbYS6BFY2
It's 32", 1440P resolution and runs at 75hz. Something like this gives you more clarity and a more immersive experience. And since a monitor isn't something you buy or replace often will probably be happier with long term.

I know your current max budget is 199. I would say hold onto that 199 and save another $40 to get one that is much bigger, higher rez and a bump in refresh rate from what you have now.

Just my 2 cents.

So I'm not alone! Acer screwed me out of the equivalent of $2700 once (warranty repair on a less than 3 week old laptop that they didn't honour). That was enough for me.

I'm also starting to look at monitors now. My hp monitors are getting long in the tooth, they both do 1920 X 1018 but I'm looking to make some changes to my workspace to make it easier to stand or sit. Another thread got me looking at 27" monitors, because I was thinking about the Samsung LC49HG90DMNXZA ... till I did the resolution/price math.

My primary use of monitors is not just for gaming, but that's certainly part of it.

I'm a big fan of the Dell Ultrasharp monitors. I use one for my home office. BRIGHT as heck, and since it is IPS, has a wide viewing angle. The IPS monitors typically have a slower response time, so people typically don't use them for gaming, but I'm not sure it matters with my crappy reflexes anyway.

No G-Sync? Didn't they also just release an update where some freesync monitors will work with G-Sync? My monitors last me 5+ years, so I plan on going all out with my next one. I was looking at similar specs to what you mention here except 1440P.

Yanno... I think quite a few of us might be developing crappy reflex syndrome. If the game doesn't get released soon, I think a few more will be added to the ranks.
I'll take a look at the Dell Ultrasharp. It is not a cheap product line, but they are well supported which is a bit* more interesting to me than cheap.

* read as "a LOT more interesting"
