looking to buy a used video card that runs SC on medium so I can upgrade my wifes computer to make it SC ready im sure someones getting a humdinger of a video card w/ their tax return so now seems like a good time to ask

I have a Radeon 6950 that I have just sitting in its box. I'm at work right now, so I'll look into it when I get home, but I'll sell it for cheap.
looking at the specs now whats a good baseline for what its going to take what am I looking at the gbs or the effective ?
Currently running a 2gb card but it dosent look nearly as fancy ill have to run dxdiag to get info on what it is. Tried running the game on low and it just sputtered till it crashed (in racing very low fps)

Just because its a 2 gb card doesn't mean its worth a shit. Yes, vram is important, but that's not the only spec you need to be looking at.

I was playing Star Citizen on medium settings with no problems, but that was 8 months ago that I upgraded to a 970.

I do have an MSI GTX 780ti I've put back in the box.
I guess I can't post links to Amazon, so you could just look it up easily enough.
I've had a really good run with this card. It'll still play most recent games on high settings around 40-60 fps.

also looking at a used 4gb nvidia gtx 690 from a friend can someone compare the three
one has more ddr5 yet the other has more mhz really wish there were fewer factors or a noob number

I have a gtx 770 but it has a watercooler on it. I am sure I have the air cooler somewhere if you are interested.
I bought Seung's but I have a friend whos trying to get into the game but his comp is limited if thatll put him over for sure
