Proper hardware, i assume. I have liberation (capture the island) server running on dedicated hardware with 3 headless clients (for AI offloading on different processes), FPS is pretty solid, like 50-60 most of time. But this config requires pretty decent hardware (in this case i7-2500k with only arma running on it, nothing else)Enhanced Movement should run fine clientside. I don't know what wizardry is used on the Op 4 gaming public server, but I've never seen a smoother multiplayer connection in Arma. Perhaps we can steal their secrets?
Yes. I caught the bug again myself. Would love to get something going.Well I hope we can get this up and running again! I got bit by the Arma bug again and had an interesting idea for a semi-persistent Arma mission series for TEST. Sorta like D&D for Arma (albeit considerably looser regarding some things) and run missions together. A successful mission means we get more vehicles/assets for next mission or a failure might set us back a bit. Hopefully there would be some interest in that, if so I'll gladly keep making missions (I'll even run Zeus on them and make sure it doesn't become too stale :D)
Ugghhh... Do I have to?Yes. I caught the bug again myself. Would love to get something going.
Yeah I definitely know the feeling there - I don't want to worry about mods nearly as much, although it can be pretty amazing when they all work together. But currently I'm planning to make missions with a mostly vanilla version of Arma (some mods like ShackTac UI, but not more than a few).I'd be interested. I've been interested in Arma for quite some time and finally got the game with the Apex pack. Finding a decent server to play on is beyond my TEST capabilities. Seems like I've spent more time tracking down and installing mods than playing so far.
Yeah right now I'm working with CBA (obviously), ACE (removed Medical), ShackTac HUD/UI (you can actually use Steam Workshop to include this - makes it easier than downloading the files and adding launch properties), and ShackTac Map Gestures (I need to work on this slightly - need to ensure the server is running it as well as all clients).my modpack is mostly RHS+ACE (however there is one additional plane, F-15 and one pack of camos as well), so i never had problems with mod conflicts. But some servers have absurd 40+GB modpacks, some admins even pack all addons to one folder (something like @MyUberModpack) and re-sign them (you already have those 15GB CUP Terrains and 10GB RHS? Fuck you, download our copies!). Worst case, modpack will include absolutely everything you will find on armaholic, including outdated and redundant stuff...
this one can be (and should be) used on client-side only. No need to run in on server.ShackTac HUD/UI
