I got my hands on a Gemini (military version of the giant Starfarer fuel hauler) and decided to use it's four massive fore guns in some dogfights. I didn't have a crew so none of the manned turrets were in use. So long as your target isn't moving too much, the Gemini's four "C-788 Combine Ballistic Cannons" can kill most small ships in one or two shots. If the Gemini misses though, there's not much else to do but run or hope for backup.

Obviously, not a true representation of a complete fight. If I can pick off targets that are otherwise occupied and pass through without having to maneuver too much, I can survive.

Ramming smaller ships is also a viable and TEST-worthy tactic.

On Tuesday night, I was on with a buddy and we happened upon a starfarer gemini in A00...so we stole it! That thing was HUGE! Needless to say, we jumped into the refueling station as a safe spot to look around inside when we were attacked from behind by about 3 people who saw us leave Olisar...only about 20 minutes with the thing! :(

The first time I spawned it, I spent 10 minutes frantically looking for the bridge because I knew if I didn't fly off immediately, someone else would board and take it. After 10 minutes, I still hadn't found the bridge (first time in a Starfarer and forgot to look at the map), I wandered by a window and noticed the ship was moving... fast. Someone had already found the bridge and taken off. My game crashed a minute or so later... I never found the bridge.

Oh, you can lay an absolute SMACK DOWN with the starfarer if you use it right. You just pop into cruise mode (Away from your attacker) and boost to full speed. Then you decouple (at velocity) and spin to face your attackers. Your "high" speed will make those pursuing you take longer getting in range, so they cant really come at you from any direction but "head on". Landing 2 or 3 shots as they catch up to you normally does the trick. This also makes a pretty stable platform for your dorsal gunner to score a few hits as well.

Thanks CT!

I reckon I should probably practice stuff and things with my Beerfarer. Like Dogfighting...
And landing.

Good work in the vid, FYI.
Thanks... I don't know if I would recommend practicing dogfighting in a Starfarer. I would practice flying through a crowd, taking punishment, and not dying. Flying a straight line with this thing = OK. Turning, visually tracking targets, or maneuvering in general = not OK.

I did do the flying backwards tactic but I don't think those clips made it into the video. But yeah, 1,2,3 shots is all it took for most single seat ships. You can tell which pilots know to avoid the Starfarer's front end and which don't.

Were you flying your barn last Sunday? The flying BARN makes a great target! At least I can hit it :) Doing a little flying for the dark side last weekend and took out a Barn - it can take a lot hits to bring one down. But you MUST keep moving fast or those big guns will take you out!
I was never shot down in the Starfarer... but I did blow up or die multiple times from bugs or stupidity.
This thing can definitely take a beating. I can't kill one solo in my Avenger (with Tarantulas instead of Suckerpunches)... my guns overheat and can't keep the pressure on.

Absolutely... if that's ever allowed AND works like that.
Faith. Gotta have that faith. They already demoed that mechanic in their FPS demonstrations quite a while ago. Wouldn't be surprising if it was a pretty standard thing that one could control. I believe CR also spoke of ships having damaged gravity generators and whatnot as a mechanic (albeit in an "imagine this" type of video). I'd be surprised if they didn't include it considering the level of detail going into the game. That's where the faith kicks in. haha

Fill tubs/pools/open-top container full of beer, turn off the gravity, and have a floating beer party.
Oh boy oh boy oh boy.
My inner fratboy is going bonkers.
