As more and more Evocati information/leaks come out, the TEST Staff would like to remind everyone that this material is NDA bound and therefore not appropriate to post on the forums.

It may still exist on other sites, but out of respect for CIG's intentions we will no longer allow posting of such on the TEST forums.

So just for clarification, are we allowed to point out such leaks on other sites, like for example thisone: https://testsquadron.com/threads/jump-point-for-the-terrapin.8697/
Or is even the link to a source where such leak can be found discouraged?

I'm confused... What does the jump point have to do with evocati?
both are leaked, the Terrapin Jumppoint is normaly only available to subscribers.
Also i was wondering if the Staff has a problem with leaked content in this forum in every form, or if it's okay to post links to other sites with leaked content. (If you look at this from a copyright point of view it's a huge difference)

What Varku said: its subscriber exclusive, thus its leaked, kind of "illegal". The point is: if I should not/am not allowed to post leaked content - which is freely available on another platform - I nevertheless are allowed to publicize content? Content which is not intended to give it to the public because its part of a "sales/revenue" strategy which then obviously is leveraged?

Hm.............

Difference is, RSI historically doesn't care overly much if the jump point stuff gets reposted and shared with non-subs, while they definitely DO care about the avocado stuff.

If there was ever a place for us to exercise our (normally weak) judgement, it is here.

What i'm trying to say is , there is a huge difference between posting something like this:
Someone recived the following Evocati E-Mail:
bla bla
we changed this and this,
and Test this
bla bla
and this:
someone posted an Evocati mail on Reddit, here is the link to the Reddit theard...
the first one will make you a hoster of the information, which can cause some trouble.
The last one will only spread the word about the leak, but this Forum dosen't count as a hoster of the leak.
I can 100% understand that the staff don't want to see Post's like the first one.
But I don't now if they would allow or forbid the second form.
But no matter how they decide, i would like to see a consistent rule, so rather bann all leaked content(-links) than to decide case by case.

I typically stay away from leaks, but without staff weighing in to clarify, I'd say a good policy would be if you're going to mention it, don't directly link/post it.

"Hey this thing leaked, they have it on reddit" vs. "hey, this thing is leaked, here's the URL/reddit link/pictures"

In my opinion, which counts for absolutely nothing, neither should be linked, posted, etc.

Leaked information about upcoming POTENTIAL game changes do nothing but upset people. They can't play to see how those changes might really impact things. They can't follow the changes nearly as easily, so it means that the information may be stale, inaccurate, or be changed due to testing feedback etc. The only thing this type of leak does is upset players and make developers less willing to share information or have outside playtesters. This is ultimately bad for us because it means less player involvement in the game, meaning we get more bugs, and less input into how the game goes in direction.

Posting links or asking people to post links to sites that have pirated content (and yes, that is probably the correct term) is probably just as bad, if not worse. In the first case, one person broke an NDA. They will get in trouble. Downloading copyrighted information or linking to pirated copyrighted information gets everyone who looked at it in trouble, as well as potentially the site that hosted the data.

Being pirates in game, means a tougher game, more roleplay potential, etc. Being a pirate outside the game could land you in jail or with huge fines and years of legal entanglements.

I couldn't agree more. CIG is already sharing an unprecedented amount of information on a game that is in Alpha.....and even that isn't enough info.
