It shows we're more mature than the other groups, not choosing to use a pun for our name. So please erase my former proposition for "A.S.S." and sign me up for TSAR. My Cutlass Red is Red-y.
That is a good question...

The symbol of medicine is the Rod of Asclepius, not the Caduceus. Caduceus is the symbol of commerce and trade.

THIS is the symbol of medicine:
"The caduceus is the traditional symbol of Hermes and features two snakes winding around an often winged staff. It is often mistakenly used as a symbol of medicine instead of the Rod of Asclepius, especially in the United States. The two-snake caduceus design has ancient and consistent associations with trade, eloquence, trickery, and negotiation. Tangential association of the caduceus with medicine has occurred through the ages, where it was sometimes associated with alchemy and wisdom."
EDIT: sorry if I was a d**k about this. People often come to get the Caduceus tattooed because they study medicine at the university and I've had to explain this to each and every one of the more times than I can count. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.
You're absolutely correct in that the caduceus symbol wasn't originally associated with healing/medicine. However, just like spoken language, symbols can drift from their original use over time. Its use in the United States is just because someone, a long time ago, went "Oh shit, was it the stick with one snake or two? Oh well no one will care". It's a cultural difference (something the USA excels at).Guys, please.

can we have test snakes? with crash test helmets? or maybe wrap auroras around the stick? You're absolutely correct in that the caduceus symbol wasn't originally associated with healing/medicine. But, if it's a big deal we can just use a stick that has THREE snakes on it.
