So this is the only interesting thing to happen in elite in the last year or more.. It's not enough to get me back into the endless grind.

If there is one thing I still respect about FDev is the way they reveal major things in their game. Without any notice, players will have to find out on their own. I really hope CIG will follow their ways in this aspect.
Well, I played the first Elite, way back in 1989 or so, when everything was a transparent polygon. First started messing with computers back in 1981 (Univac 80 aka The Two Headed Monster), so it was pretty revolutionary game at the time. But after reading the reviews and friends that have played ED and giving me their feedback. Might skip on it this time.
that is fantastic. makes me want to actually give that game a go.
The thargoid have come a long way in 30 years xD
I wonder if he could have followed it with a wake scanner. Maybe it could have lead the pilot to their home base.

Same here. I exhausted all my space trucking efforts and couldn't continue. Ironically enough that's when I started messing with American Truck Simulator.

Same here. In fact some time back I logged in to show a friend the game, couldn't remember how to fly the ship and ended up getting it destroyed outside a station. Not been back since, but I suspect that the shards of my dignity are floating there still.
Compared to the grind, this is huge! :D

Well there were, but not of today's standards.
Only Universities and the Military had computers that were capable of running ED as an alpha.

You know ordinarily I take your word as gospel truth Boss.
But...knowing Frontier ..... we've just been introduced to an alien ship - awesome!!! BUT is there any actual content to go with this or is it just the intro they've put in - people will now get randomly interdicted, belched at, and then left alone. It wouldn't surprise me.
