I just watched it. If you've been following along all the past videos, it won't contain much new info, at least I couldn't find anything really noteworthy. It's basically a repeat of what was already discussed at citizencon and way back in 10 for the chairmans and such.
My little bit shorter TL,DR than the transcript linked above with added bits:
- planets will have different environments on their surface with dynamic weather
- environmental hazards like radiation, heat, oxygen leaks and such will gate your progress, you will need to counter them (with things like env. suits) in order to progress through these hazards. these hazards also tie into dynamic mission creation, not pre-scripted. Also, hazards. (very long part repeated over and over without much info)
- you won't be able to land on planets just anywhere you like if there are cities and such, you will have to follow a path to landing zones
- if you get disconnected or log out, your ship will persist for a little while. If you log out mid combat, your ship may be taken or destroyed. Log out in a safe place, don't rage quit duh
- (as discussed a thousand times before) multicrew will make a difference once things like the "power pipes system" is implemented in ships/stations/buildings, crew will have to manage burnt out parts, reroute conduits, scan, and such, to make the ship more effective
- security systems to prevent just anyone taking your ship are in the works
- a way to assign limited permissions to crew members (NPCs as well) so they can't just take your ship after you log out are also planned
- NPC spawns will have a proper system behind em based on your ship/reputation/cargo and other data, not just number of players in the vicinity
- you can "retire" as a Farmer! But you might find your farm burnt down one day because everything is persistent and others may find you. Also Chris thinks it would be boring as F, so it is possible, but not encuraged
- other races may or may not use different currencies later, but it will be UEC only for starters
- there will be Distressed Bacons! no, I mean Beacons! Distress Beacons! 3 types planned so far, one for NPCs, one for Players, one for hiring ppl for jobs
I am disappointed, because it didn't feel like they made much if any progress since the last time they talked about these things over a year ago. Everything still feels like large scale ideas instead of being worked into a detailed working system and actual gameplay.
