According to my CPA and IRS tax code (as interpreted by my CPA), yes.
Seeking clarification on this.

Good info there DGunner... and I suspect that the amount of cash pledged to CIG is not deductable from what you might owe but can be deducted from your gross capitol income and therefore reduce the amount of tax owed... either way.. check with a CPA or some other tax authority before you just decide to write in your deduction... an audit (for any reason) can be a truly sh$tty experience.
The best advise is: only pledge what you can afford to lose

They mentioned something about warning for anyone posting referral code, so I'd recommend to remove it to avoid such warning (at least in case it matters for you) .. other than that - very good reply (at least from the PoV of such SC junkie as myself :) )
