It has always been possible to slow down time relative to oneself, in fact its one of the defining moments of Einstein's work, and has been proven multiple times. Time dilation of moving particles And while things like the Alcubierre Drive do give the exciting prospect of space travel, our current technology significantly limits us to only sending a few to places rather close.

My excitement for the James Webb Space Telescope can best be explained by this recent picture from Hubble. It shows what they call an "embryonic galaxy" and it looks like a feint blob of red light. The JWST is a purely Infrared based system due to the nature of light and how it travels through space-time. From my understanding as light stretches with space it widens the wave bringing it into the realm of IR. Visible light is part of the electromagnetic spectrum and each color has its own wavelength, red being the longest and then shifting into IR in the non-visible spectrum.

Outstanding video. It's good to think about these things and realize the role your mind plays in observing the universe. It's why we try to keep things empirical and objective. Critical Analysis and the Scientific method are paramount in being an observer.

I have a personal little theory I came up with about Time and and the Expansion of the Universe which to me seems to make sense, but then so does that investment opportunity that nice Nigerian Prince email'd me about so perhaps i'm just not qualified to know...

This is the realm of thought for over thinkers. Over think away then let other people bring you back to the empirical world and show you why you're wrong. This way, next time you theorize you have a better understand of what exactly it is you are thinking about. Science is fun.

Yeah, my original research coming out of high-school was with a local prosthetic clinic building motors to actuate fingers based on latent muscle movement. While I don't do that anymore as my degree focuses on cyber security applications and my commissioning program has me pretty busy there is a lot of cool research being done in that area. Specifically at MIT, Duke, and NCSU.

Haha thanks, that's the plan! And yeah, DARPA has been a major source of funding, both for wounded warrior rehabilitation and militarized exoskeletons. Imagine a world were one man can lift the weight of 5 without the space required for a forklift. Its a great advancement towards rapid and easily deplorable SAR equipment for humanitarian missions as well.

Indeed never say never or that something is impossible. It was exciting when the Alcubierre drive energy requirements went from needing the energy of a sun to the moon to now its theorized to be on the scale that is far more possible.

I watched that falcon heavy launch and LAND in person. I have never seen something more inspiring in all my life.

I wish I could have had the opportunity to witness it in person but I agree it was exciting to watch even if it was on the computer. I also am keenly aware how politics and lobbyist have prevented aspiring companies from pushing technology forward like when NASA picked Boeings CST-100 Starliner over SNC Dream Chaser.
