I am currently running 40TB of Seagate 7E8 SED HDD's but..... Star Citizen wants SSD's.... so I need an SSD. Preferably enough for SC plus it's updates and my OS. Anyone got a preferred brand?
Yeah, I may go with a 4TB 860 EVO, they look pretty reliable.850 or 860 series of ssds from Samsung are universally loved. Used all over in enterprises as well.
A lot of work stuff.Forty terabytes?
HOLY JESUS MAN.
What the hell do you have on your computer? Skynet?
Some of my work files are 20+TB. And nah, unfortunately I don't have an open m.2 slot currently.Do you have all of the Simpsons episodes or something?
NM. Does your computer have an m.2 slot. If so, get one of those, pref a Samsung 960. If you don’t, honestly, most SSDs will work. Crucial and Samsung are two good manufacturers, but there are other good ones as well.
Do you work at NASA?Some of my work files are 20+TB. And nah, unfortunately I don't have an open m.2 slot currently.
I think that you might mean that some of your work files are 2.0 TB in size my friend. Some of my work files are 20+TB. And nah, unfortunately I don't have an open m.2 slot currently.
While the individual files are small, porting over entire projects can actually be rather large. The overall size can be 20+ at the end of the day.I think that you might mean that some of your work files are 2.0 TB in size my friend.
Nah, forensics stuff mainly.Do you work at NASA?
Truth!850 or 860 series of ssds from Samsung are universally loved. Used all over in enterprises as well.
The Samsung 960's and now 970's are really great & affordable drives. If you don't have an open m.2 slot, you could also put one in on a PCI card, and get not max speed, but definitely faster than any SATA drive. And when you upgrade your rig, just move that puppy out of the PCI card and into your new & open m.2 slot! Some of my work files are 20+TB.
