I'm game.

My favorite book for years was The Running Man by Richard Bachman (pen name for Steven King). Almost completely unlike the film in anything but concept.

I also adored The Culture series of books by Ian A. Anderson.

Also wildly enjoyed the Red Dwarf book series which is a lot more sci-fi than sit-com on the printed page.

And, of course, Hitchikers Guide. Sublime.

I have been listening to audio books on my way home from work and it's something I really enjoy. As of right now they have been non-fiction books which I'll include links for Below.

Life 3.0 Is kind of Sci-Fi as it explores what could really happen with the emergence of an AI super intelligence and all the very possible ways this could happen.

I have yet to "read" any fiction, but I would like to start. Being able to discuss it with others every month would be awesome as well.

Obviously I hope whichever books you choose, they will also be available on audible.

Which books did you have in mind?

right now I am reading redshirts, written by John Scalzi. I highly recommend it. One should also read one second after ( though not science fiction, its a great read about a what if scenario of an emp detonated over the United States.)

Ooh yeah!

How far is the TV series vs the books?
so far i'm only on the first book and it seems like the tv series paralleled the book pretty much. the tv series did play up the mars/earth tension more then the books but the belter/inner tension is all there. plus the book so far focuses on a few characters and some from the tv series i haven't even seen make an appearance yet or are only mentioned so far. i'm enjoying it though, even though i know what happens so far lol

I started reading John Scalzi books while waiting for Brandon Sanderson to finish two other books (last book of Wheel of Time, and a Warbreaker book). It was a potential mistake in some ways. It started me on an odyssey of Sci Fi war and exploration that has taken me quite literally from the near future, to 4 billion years from now. But I love it.

I also enjoy audio books while driving.
I use this app on my phone called "OverDrive" and a card from our local library.
Now I can check out library books in digital or audio format from a nation data base and download them onto my phone.
We are talking 1000's of books for down load... and the best part... totally free of charge.
