A little help...please?
Last Night I was just making a run to YELA in my Prospector before bed. I managed to come across a super rock of just 12% Agricium (AWESOME)! Fill my bags and lift off to head back to Olisar to cash it out. It would have been my biggest cashout yet since I started mining, when I run into a camper at low orbit looking for easy targets. I had already selected Olisar as my destination in the star map so I could not see any other jump points in my HUD that would be a clear shot to jump to and avoid him. Instead, I was on the opposite side of the planet so I couldn't quantum jump to my target either. When I opened my star map as he's shooting at me, I find there aren't any other targets I can jump too that are a clear shot. If I could just see the outer asteroid field jump points available or another point on the moons surface in my HUD, I could have jumped and then jumped again to another spot, thus avoiding the confrontation. However, when you select your destination in the star map, those other targets do not show on your HUD anymore. Long story short, I died because a light fighter was able to just whittle me down to nothing as I frantically try to avoid his firing and outrun him then he kills me. This is mainly because I could not figure out how deselect my star map destination so I could locate and target a new jump point on my HUD that was a clear shot.

HERE IS WHERE I NEED HELP! After selecting my destination in the star map, how do I "deselect" or clear my destination so that I can see all the jump points available on my HUD again. It's probably so simple but I didn't know how and in the moment it was infuriating that I lost all that time and precious cargo to some punk. I don't want to relive this situation again.

BTW-IMO I love my Prospector, but it's such an easy target. So squishy.

1. Select Yela to see the planetary and OM jump points.
2. You don't have to select Olisar to jump to Olisar. Spool up and select the nav marker of Olisar. If Olisar is blocked, then you jump to another OM and check again. Olisar is easy to find, just find Crusader.
3. If Yela is blocking your view of Olisar, then you still can jump to Daymar, Delamar or Cellin

Great advice! But still, CIG, WTF. Deselecting is a very minor and easy thing to do. It simplifies the entire system, goddamit!

Deselect also is very simple, jump and abort. If you can't jump, then no abort. The same goes for missile lock. The only way to turn of a missile lock is to launch the missile.

Here's what I do:
1) Take off, raise gear, point nose straight up, go into full afterburner
2) Hit "B" on the keyboard, all jump points will pop up, most will be red and say "EXIT ATMOSPHERE", but you will hear your quantum drive spool up automatically(one less thing to worry about)
3) If you've stayed in burner, by this time you should be damn near out of the atmosphere(+/-30k meters)and traveling at about 1100 m/s
4) Put your pipper over a blue diamond and the quantum HUD pops up automatically. Your Q-drive is already spooled, so all you have to do is wait for it to calibrate(a few seconds), hit the Q-drive button("B" on the keyboard, or whatever you have it bound to), and you're gone

The important thing is stay fast, and make sure to scan for targets before you take off. If you get caught just taking off, it's probably all over for you though. The Prospector is not any kind of dog fighter and in-atmosphere, your top speed is only about 350-400 m/s, less if you are trying to maneuver. What I want to try next is seeing about a combat assist beacon to be an escort, just throw some fighter jockey a percentage of the haul(mining is pure prophet at this point anyway)to watch my back. That is going to be a requirement to survive when the Orion comes online anyway. Good luck, and join the Rock Raiders if you haven't already!

Thanks for the tips! I am aware how to fly off and spool a target and then jump to different jump points. My biggest gripe is that I don't know how to deactivate the "set as destination" in the star map once I've activated it. All I can do at that point is just select a different target in the star map, which still hides all the other jump points available. I know it will deactivate itself once I've jumped to a location I've selected, I just want to know if I can deactivate it if I haven't jumped yet. If there isn't a way to do this, then I'm just not going to select a destination when I lift off YELA so I can see all the jump points always, which would have saved my sorry ass from falling to the felonious camper anyways. If anyone knows of a keystroke that deactivates the "destination selection" in the star map, please let me know!

Also, IMO I think CryAstro should have a no PVP area around it like Olisar. It's a bitch if you go into to refuel or repair and someone shoots your ass while your just chillin. Better yet, have the station include defensive turrets to protect its customers while docked. You shoot at a customer docked, the turrets will return fire at you.

The best advice I have is don't select your destination using the Star Map. Simple spool the drive to pop open quantum markers and then align with your target. Yes, it is more difficult to find your target but once you get used to it it will give you much more options and it avoids the issue you listed.

Essentially there is no way to deselect your target once selected. You have to quantum to that location or select a new location. In this case you would have had to have selected the moon you were leaving, Yela, and then select an OM point or other destination that you could quantum around the moon.

Best practice atm is to not use the mobiglass "Set Destination" unless you're going to Delemar. Everything else by Crusader is in 'range' so to speak and fairly easy to find. I suggest jumping to the pole of a moon after jumping to one of the equator OM markers to gather bearings and figure out your next move.

I know this is an alpha and we are testers, but he is just asking for CIG to fix this basically xD

CIG please fix!

/ninja-edit I thought featured was OP. He is not.

But OP is just assuming that something as basic as this would be in the game, which I cannot fault him for =-)
