I don't have a pic of him that I can find right now, but I have a story to fill your heart.
I hated cats. My oldest son loved them. He got my permission somehow, to buy a $5.00 kitten from a neighbor. He'd feed, clean the litter, and take care of the cat - so I agreed. Well, he couldn't figure out what to call it so I referred to the cat as "the kitten". My the time the kitten was 18 months old, he was pretty big for a cat. My nieces 3rd birthday was in July. It was hot. She was in the backyard eating a piece of cake and playing with the kitten (3 adults were in the yard, not 10 feet away).

Then a racoon came in through a hole in the fence looking for a piece of either the cake, or her. The kitten went ape shit crazy. It jumped farther than I'd ever seen a cat jump before, caught the coon... and killed it. The whole thing took only seconds. My niece was crying so we payed attention to her. Then the cat vanished. 3 days later I found him in the basement, slowly bleeding to death from a 3 inch gash in his neck. I figured, you know I hate cats but this one deserves a medal for what he did - so I took him to the vet.

Vet asked me what his name was. "I said, I have no idea. I just call him the kitten.". The vet looked at me and said, "sounds to me like he has a fine name for a cat." Then he wrote Kitten on the tag. Total vet bill came to $500.00, but I decided that he deserved it, so they sowed him back together. After that, "Kitten" became MY cat. More than a pet. The only cat I ever liked. We had a few adventures over the years. He lived 17 years in total, and grew to 26 pounds. Not fat.

He was hilarious too. There is another story about him I could tell you. Not so dramatic, but hilarious. I'll write it if you're interested.

My other story...
Well so Kitten as we came to call him loved to sit and watch the squirrels, birds and other animals. He was curious I think about what they were, but never tried to attack anything. One day when he was about 5 or so, I found him sitting in the living room, looking out the screen door at a pair of squirrels running back and forth along the back of the fence with some seeds. He sat there for something like 20 minutes, watching.. very interested. Then there was a thump that startled me too, and when I looked I saw the rear end of a hawk flying away with one of the squirrels. Guess it was lunch time. The cat, in the meantime, had been so frightened by the appearance of the hawk that he had launched himself (all 26 pounds) to the ceiling. About then he fell back to the floor, and ran away for a couple of hours.

Now I also had two huskies, 75 and 80 pounds of fur and teeth. To say they liked the cat would be an overstatement. But the cat loved to scare them, and they'd gotten pretty used to his presence. I actually suspect there was a little "Hmm why is lunch moving?" at first. After they'd investigated a little it was more "That's not lunch. Sharp claws ... don't like". I was in the garden taking care of some wild rose bushes, the cat was on the porch sunbathing, and the dogs were sleeping in the cool grass... Suddenly a sparrow... a sparrow!... landed on the bird feeder above the cat. He launched himself, again. He came down between the two dogs with a howl. Both dogs jumped, and the cat jumped again... and landed on MY shoulder. I don't know if anyone here ever experienced a 26 pound cat landing on your shoulder but you tend to yell. That launched the still attached to my shoulder, cat, about 10 feet to a pine tree which he then climbed. Which is cool but there were more than the one bird, which fact the cat soon discovered. He launched himself from the tree, back on the porch and tried to enter the glass door. Which was closed. Another loud noise, but the cat just froze for a second. Just then my son opened the door to see what all the commotion was, and the cat used him to climb into the house.

So. My son is laying on the ground screaming his surprise and probably pain, I'm trying to get up from the rose bush I fell on while simultaneously nursing my shoulder and NOT screaming in agony, the dogs are nowhere to be found, and we found the cat in the living room grooming himself like nothing had happened. But he never went in the backyard again.
