I feel like i need to share my reading list with you guys, but half's in Nook, half's in Kindle, and the other half is in printed books. There is even a series of books that I think might have been part of the inspiration for SC. I might suggest the opening book of that one in a while.
Just a moment... half Nook + half Kindle + half paper... where the heck are the PDF books? I'm missing half my books!

Yeah, Seveneves was REALLY dragged out. Neal Stephenson can get long-winded sometimes.
Seveneves is the first Neal Stephenson book I didn't finish

all his other books took over my life until I finished them

Are the rest long-winded and take forever to finish?
quite a few are, but more engaging

The Baroque Cycle is four massive books that rival Game of Thrones in complexity - part history, part economics lesson, told with a mix of historic and fictional characters

Snow Crash moves along well

I think I will try some other authors before returning to Neal Stephenson.

Old Man's War is excellent - great selection!

I enjoy Neal Stephenson, but his later stuff can get a little dry, if you haven't read Snow Crash though definitely read it, even if just to see it's influence on the cyberpunk genre

I thought Neal Stephenson's Baroque Cycle was a really good series, set during the time Isaac Newton and Leibniz were alive. I think Quicksilver was the second book of his that I read, first one was Snow Crash. My favorite was Anathem but to be honest I still haven't finished Seveneves, definitely not his best showing to judge his work by.

try Cryptonomicon

set in the recent times, one of the characters is a descendant of the Shaftoes
