Anybody getting them? I'm an AMD diehard (still rocking an FX 8350 from 2012!) and I'm pretty excited about the new chips coming out in July. Hoping to essentially have a new rig in July (Mobo/CPU/GPU/Ram)....anybody else doing the same?

Also hoping that the new chips (+ a decent GPU) will fare well with Star Citizen.

depends on if Intel has anything to counter it. Also prices are a big factor.

Most likely this next gen AMD chip, some DDR4 RAM and what ever new GPU comes from Nvidia this year will be the build that carries me into SQ42.

Its time!

As someone still riding my z170 and i5-6600, unable to overclock because SC hates that, I cant wait to upgrade! Might even get the 12 cored.

I'm tempted to get one. Rocking an i5-4460 but I made the mistake of getting a high refresh monitor and a cheap ex-mining Vega 64. Battlefield 5 now shows CPU 99% usage... The big question is: Eiter get 1) A sweet-spot CPU (3600X maybe?) + cheap Motherboard + cheap DDR4 Ram or 2) wait for AM5 socket and wait for the second iteration of those new CPUs, because the first version is usually not that refined yet. Besides, DDR5 is on the horizon and we all know we'll be paying a high premium for it. So refresh 2019 vs 2021/22?

I'm in some serious doubts (as usual) .. #1 - should I take 3800X or 3900X #2 - should I hope for 3950X to become reality or not .. #3 - do I need to jump to 570 chipset or not

Yeah, me as well. Great CPU......
With my NVidia GTX-1080 I get very good framerates. Usually 60+
I am not in a hurry as SC will be awhile yet and SQ42 is single player.
I will update later 2020.....
You're getting 60 fps on SC?!

The GTX-1080 working well for other games as well? I'm finding that my FX8350 rig paired up with my Radeon R9 380 is at its absolute limit.

Yes. In fact, to keep heat down, I have limited my GPU to 60 FPS in my user.cfg file ( monitor is 60Hz)
sys_MaxFPS = 60
Without this, I often get 70 to 120 FPS. Depending on where I am in the 'Verse.
Always 80+ FPS in Star Marine & Arena Commander.

So the AMD FX 8350 has lots of life left in it yet.
Never overclocked and I have just reduced the CPU power to 90% and it has not affected my FPS in SC at all.
But it runs 20C cooler

Nice dude. I think what's keeping me back is the GPU (Radeon R9 380) which is unfortunate because it's not that old (4 years old compared to my 7 year old CPU). I think I'll hold off getting a new one till I see what AMD has to offer in their upcoming Navi line of GPUs. If they don't look that impressive, I'll just suck it up and get a RTX 2080 or something. The crazy thing is when I first built my current rig, it made the recommended requirement to play SC, now it can barely make the minimum.

So far, I'm happy with the Ryzen 5 2600 upgrade I did on my old FX-8370. Plus I threw in the RX-570oc from MSI. Runs SC anywhere from 30-60 fps depending on where I'm at.

Man I'm pumped for the new Ryzens but AMD's 'Navi' offering of next gen GPUs are kinda disappointing.

Yeah kind of. It seems like they still don't have the ( upper class) gaming PC market in their mind.

But it isn't that bad it leaves a choice at least for the middle to upper gaming class if they want to pay for an almost useless Raytracing feature or prefer some slightly more power.

Also looking at the reference card there should by some kind of optimization possible, in terms of cooling, oc, etc.

And another video i found

Interesting review. I'm not sure about the price point though, I thought it would be cheaper for what you're getting. Hmm besides Gordon at PCWorld, the other Youtube guys in that video didn't seem terribly impressed. As usual, I'll wait for benchmarks before I make my decision. I'm building a new rig and will get the new Ryzen setup first. Will hold off on the GPU till I see what Nvidia has to offer.
