On the plus side I suspect you'll get much more use out of the Kraken than a Pioneer, even after we've established infrastructure to start creating outposts, as even after we have sufficient outposts to efficiently create more outposts I suspect new outpost creation will be a rarity.
I just like the concept of the pioneer If the Kraken can hold a reclaimer sized ship on it maybe it will be worth it as my mobile base which is what im hoping for.

Given the size & shape of the Kraken, I'm willing to guess that it will have some sort of docking area for use with space stations. If so, then even if it can't hold a Reclaimer on its deck, them it could potentially still dock with it to work as a mobile base of operations for your fleet.

There's the docking collar, as what's been said to be. One on each side 🍻
Also thought to be able to dock Kraken together.. that remain to bee seen but it would be cool.

Then you could dock one 890j on one side and a Endeavor on the other side and you have a flying space station.. 🤪

If you dock though can you still Quantum leap

Well I think you could since a landed ship can stay on pad wile doing QJ and each ship docked have it's own shield so if there are one docked it should follow where ever the master ship jump.
One can only hope it'll work same as anything else attached to one ship jumping, which would be strange if it didn't.

CHEERS! 🍻

I'm pretty sure they talked about this not long ago. (if i remember right) as a first iteration you will be locked stationary as long as you're docked together.
Also i can imagine that moving docked ships will cause a lot of wild pyhsic engine issues and also some edge cases which needed to be considered.

The Kraken landing pads are probably something different.

Thanks you 2 i haven't been keeping up with episodes lately. i know about being in the ship or on top but in my opinion if you were attached via a hatch wouldn't the integrity of the hatch snap during an evolution like that? Maybe my navy brain is just thinking to hard about this and its something like"oh the ships computers are integrated and the master ship QJs the other ship at the same time...idont know

Well thing is when you go in to a Qj your ship have no motion, the ship is put in a bubble and that is moving your ship through space.
So your ship is not actually moving during the jump it's carried to destination hence anything connected to it should be included in the bubble.

Side note: If you look at your speed when jumping to QT it goes to 0 then when returning out of QJ it return ship speed to what it was before the jump.

So what is quantum fuel used for then there has to be some type of propulsion right?

Yeah the Quatum engine need fuel to operate, it need a lot of fuel to create the bubble around your ship and then create a wormhole like tube to move the bubble to destination set by you.

Side note: Also the reason you don't get stuck to the wall like a fly on a windshield of a moving car when in quantum, if your ship had any motion like that speed you would be crushed.
The bubble around your ship protect the ship and keep it motionless as it get's carried through to destination.

If you imagine a pen on a peice of paper and dragging the pen around drawing a line, that's normal thrusters and Hydrogen Fuel.

Now imagine that piece of paper, but you fold the paper into a concertina shape just before the paper goes under the nib and then you unfold it from the concertina shape just after it has passes under the nib - that's quantum. It's compressing the space in front of you and then uncompressing it behind you, The Q fuel is used to compress the space.

Think of how a worm moves by compressing a segment that then appears to run down its body. If you imagine a bubble is inside that zone of compression, the bubble itself has no speed or momentum, it is static yet it travels. The compression itself does not move either, the head of the worm foes not physically travel to its tail - the compression area moves, a new part of the worm that compresses and uncompresses as the area passes along the body. Once done the worm returns to an uncompressed state like there was never any compression in the first place.

I have no melt regrets. Melted what I didn't want, consolidated ships with no LTI by melting and buying the package. I have quiet a few in BB that I probably wont get except the blade and original carrack LTI ship. The carrack I'll upgrade to the M2 hercules as I have another in the exploration mega pack. And at some point unmelt the Tonk

I don't think I have any regrets... yet! 😬

I did upgrade my P-72 Archimedes to the BMM during a holiday sale. Then upgraded the Banu Defender to a BMM and the original BMM to a Carrack. So I think soon I will know if my decision to essentially melt the Defender will be a regret.

My original pledge package was an aurora upgraded to a Rear Admiral Andromeda which I upgraded to a Phoenix. I think the reactions since the last update to the Phoenix have been mostly negative but I am still holding on--- partly because I like the design and the aesthetic so very much (Seems very akin to the Lady Luck or the fresh & clean Millennium Falcon from Solo: A Star Wars Story). I still would like to make it something special and personal. And I think I would very much regret CCUing it even if it was to a more-powerful ship.

And I have been pretty AFK on SC developments in the past year but I don't think any of my other pledge ships (Reclaimer, Starfarer-G, Prospector, Buccaneer, Sabre, Vanguard, Arrow, SuperHornet, Gladius, Hurricane, Arrow, or Polaris) have become extremely unpopular with recent updates?
