While there is merit in this, I'm sure that some ships will have toilets that will employ a toilet that also works as a bidet which would effectively render toilet paper needless on those ships. It honestly wouldn't surprise me to see this initially done on Origin ships.
You forget my friend: you are in space where water will be something so vital to you that it will be second only to air. Using water to spray ones arse clean may pass on a decadent ship like an Origin, but on an RSI or Drake ship you won't have the spare room for something as luxurious as a waste-treatment-plant or a Urine Resyc system (Red Dwarf reference, can't seem to find a clip online though) that you may get on a luxury ship or one intended for living in the void for months at a time.

Toilet rolls? In the future?
Yes, they are already in the game:
- When you spawn on Port Olisar some of the rooms indeed have toilet rolls in them. You can't pick them up yet but i'm looking forward to the day I can TP the ship-spawn room.
- Those two sewer pipes at Hurston that constantly fling crap out over the city have toilet paper streamers coming out of them too.

It's already in :)

Hoplites, MPUV's... I like where your head's are at. BUT... if ya wanna be a real A+ pirate/privateer tool, ya gotta think bigger! Sure we use the Mantis interdiction bubble to grab a ship from Quantum. And I'll even give ya your EMP support vessel to drop it's shields if ya like. BUT, I'm not worried about boarding her, or stealing her, etc. I'll use my GD Reclaimer claw like an Alien® piercing it's prey's chest. Then eat your ship whole, filling up my Reclaimer's stores with valuable resources and components :P
In that case, you can always amp things up a notch by using distortion weapons on the Hoplites that once the victim ships are disabled they can drop off the assault crews to use multi-tools to weld the doors / hatches closed, strip off all of the weapons & components they can to then toss into a pair of vultures to sell at used parts dealers. Then let the Reclaimer eat the ships with the people alive inside them. If the Reclaimer is equipped with distortion weapons as well, it can help hold the disabled ships down from being able to power up while the crew is dropped off & strips the ships clean.
What has been theorycrafted before shall be theorycrafted again. So say we Owl. ;)

Reclaimer was, is, and probably always will be, the apex pirate ship.
@Shadow Reaper sound familiar?

you make my point for me

the knock-on effects from one price change expand infinitely to where maintaining market stability becomes impossible

'managing' the market is a losing proposition

more than one game has died from in-game economies spinning out of control

player driven markets are the answer

edit: the Synthworld system is where my Squadron 999 [TESTES] will be based

it will be ideal for all kinds of combat tournaments
You have nailed it again @maynard.

Honestly I don't even like that CIG is planning to sell ships. Now I don't mind them managing the design, But they could make collecting the raw materials, getting it refined, manufacturing the parts and whatnot all part of the game play. I mean right now there's no reason to go looking for copper, but if you needed 5 metric tons for a ship... hell I'd mine shit if it gave me an advantage in the game.

if the market is limited to selling mined minerals to NPCs and then buying finished goods from NPCs it isn't going to hold player interest for long

CIG needs to implement crafting manufacturing, the more complex the better

the ability to vertically integrate all the aspects of production would advantage large orgs like TEST - we can operate at a scale few others can match

What? You mean like child labour?
"OK Jimmy, do a good job in clicking all the stuff for the next 6 hours and maybe we'll go to the park"
no, like we can have our own internal market because we're so big

you could buy everything you need to manufacture your widgets from fellow TESTes in our home system, saving the time and cost of traveling to a market hub

Credits circulating among TESTes create a rising tide that lifts all boats

the rich get richer

I agree with this. I loved how I was able to gather materials & craft things in WoW to then sell to other players through the auction house. I would love for SC to have some sort of game play installed like that someday.

We wouldn't even have to limit access to that to TESTies. And maybe we don't feel like mining shit today, or manufacturing parts for an upgrade.
Like @Talonsbane said, there are examples of demand driven markets that work at whatever level you want it to. I just think what we have now is more like nursery school.
AND
That was part of the purpose for the land claims.

Yup. I still want to know if it can swallow small fighters whole, and what happens if they then turn their weapson on the insides ot the Reclaimer. Seems there ought to be some way to mount some kind of distortion weapon inside the Reclaimer bay to neutralize a fighter and blow the cockpit hatch, to take the bird in one piece. It really depends what CIG is willing to allow, and they have been clear that taking ships intact will be about the hardest task in game. Mostly, "boarding actions" are intended for smaller craft to take larger, but we'll have to see what we see. I doubt Vanduul fighters will have self destruct the way the larger birds do.

God that would be freaking amazing. Haha. I really hope they can pull this game off. The feature creep is insane, but she's a beauty.

This left me laughing at work. And then I saw your signature and though wow do we have a Dr. Frankenstein amongst our ranks?

They have a nice document on their intentions of recovering and scrapping ships. So you'll need to EVA over first and remove modules, ammo, cargo, and attachments before you scrap the ships skin and hull. In fact, repairing works kind of similar in reverse.

No i've seen the bog rolls in Port O on spawn in, just thought I'd make a Demolition man joke 💩

I was and still am hoping that they introduce a compelling crafting/manufacturing game mechanic into the game, that's some of my favorite stuff to do in game. Matter of fact I was hoping that the science gameplay would be like having my old bio-engineer back from when I played Star Wars Galaxies. (though I admit I am one of the many SWG vets who look upon those times with rose colored glasses). Hell, much as I plan on staying in the safe zones, if there was a good crafting system in the game and rare plants/animals/minerals made for superior products I'd probably be more likely to venture out into unsafe space more often. There's a reason so many MMOs add a crafting mechanic to their games.
