What About All the Other Things like Buk’s or Loadout Changes?
One of the more confusing and often queried systems was the Battlefield Upgrade Kit or “BUK” that was announced alongside the Vanguard and its variants. The BUK system was theoretically designed to make it easy to swap between the 3 versions but for a variety of reasons wasn’t clearly explained and understood and as such we’ve simplified it:
For each BUK owned this will be converted into a combo pack of the relevant Module (to fit the center room) and the relevant items (nose, turret etc) to go with that system.
No more BUK’s will be offered going forward, only these combo packs.
The Vanguard Sentinel and Harbinger are variants of the Vanguard warden as they contain exterior geometry differences, alongside different hardpoints.
The Vanguard Hoplite is a variant of the Vanguard Warden and does not have a Module hardpoint inside to take any of the other three items, it can still mount the nose and turret items from other vanguards however.
To give some examples of what is possible with these changes you can take your Vanguard Warden, remove the centre room module and provided you have the Sentinel and Harbinger combo packs, be able to attach the Harbingers centre room module and Sentinels nose and turret items. Externally this would still look like the Warden (as the geometry and skin remains the Warden) with the same Ordnance hardpoint sizes and quantities, but packing the Rocket Pod turrets of the Sentinel and internally would have the torpedo launcher of the Harbinger.
The middle room is modular so it is unlikely you'll get torperos of the harbinger and the ewarfare features of sentinel in the same frame. You should be able to swap them out at will, but it is not clear if you'd need some specialist facilities like a crucible to do so...My guess is even this above has changed since the Sentinel's EMP generator is in the place of the Harbinger's S5 torps.
But the point is, these older BUKs are not going to be offered by CIG, so if you want them you need to buy them somewhere like EBay?
The feature to swap out the modules is not yet in the game, only standard components, and the BUKs are not yet set up to be component packs yet, so we can't test that yet. It's only the parts you can buy in stores/swap out from other ships, shields, coolers etc.So can anyone confirm that differences other than the paint scheme still exist between the variants?
For instance, the Hoplite is slower but carries more armor. Is that still true if you swap in the sentinel gear?
The Sentinel has stealth, which probably means a box around the reactors to quiet EM. Does that show if you replace the EM package with the Hoplite's troops package or the Harbinger's missiles?
So many questions. . .
I gotta say the look of that workstation in midships is just friggin' packed full of AWESOME!!!! It would be cool though to have the choice of the EMP or the S5 torps and still have stealth, etc. Can't wait to see what combinations are possible.I'd not bother with BUKs myself because all other versions are inferior to the Sentinel.
It totes is, super atmospheric I can even forgive the exterior being blue and gold instead of black and yellow as it matches the interior and blue contrasts so well with yellow:I gotta say the look of that workstation in midships is just friggin' packed full of AWESOME!!!!
Wait, since when does the Sentinel have EMP and stealth? Lol, I sure as shit don't remember that. Has it been that long?. . .has an EMP Generator and comes with stealth?
Instead of the EMP missiles there is an EMP generator (I'd prefer that to stay as EMP missiles would I assume be single use whereas you can pop the generator again and again) and the Sentinel has has low heat low signature components in contrast to the other versions which have parts that bring the noize and give it away.Wait, since when does the Sentinel have EMP and stealth? Many thanks :)Edit: @NaffNaffBobFace, glorious images my friend
Is there a new write up? Damn. What else changed? These are my favourite ships. I have a Harby with Sentinel BUK, but I'm really starting to wonder (AGAIN) if I made the right choice, hahaha. Should I instead have a Sentinel with Harby BUK? I do believe that in the end the Sentinel will be the game play I use most. Are the cockpits identical? Will the Sentinel end up with the AR Cockpit originally planned?Instead of the EMP missiles there is an EMP generator (I'd prefer that to stay as EMP missiles would I assume be single use whereas you can pop the generator again and again) and the Sentinel has has low heat low signature components in contrast to the other versions which have parts that bring the noize and give it away.

No new write up right now from what I know, the AR cockpit isn't in game yet but is still planned so it's the standard one for now but not always. From what has been said the Harby has better armour but is slightly slower. I think you are in a good position as you will be able to pick and choose which components from the two you put in the heavier armored hull.Is there a new write up? Damn. What else changed? Awesome! That makes me happy. Thanks for validating my vacillating mind. As always, remember that we are in Alpha and it's all subject to change. The EMP may end up going back to the missiles still so even now it's pretty hard to tell what would be the best course of action for what you want to walk away with... but consider this: When a bunch of punks descend on your Harby expecting at most a couple of troops coming out of its arse and suddenly an EMP bubble appears around it you'll be laughing at their retreating backs while blasting away at them.
As for other changes, they tweaked the model so they all share the Harbys back end now with the wider entrance, and the rear landing-gear have the tank tracks from the original concept, if you were not aware of that.
Yeah, I have followed the Sentinel since it's first mention and they never said a word about this that I have seen. Perhaps even more importantly, it is the only long range bird with stealth built in. One supposes the reactor housing has special protection, like the Hoplite has special armor, etc.Wait, since when does the Sentinel have EMP and stealth? Lol, I sure as shit don't remember that. Apparetly all the Vanguards can carry Arrestor IIIs, which are technically "spike missiles" rather than EMP, but they have the same effect for the ship they hit. All seven of the guns on the Sentinel are distortion weapons, as well.Instead of the EMP missiles there is an EMP generator. . .
