……..You are coming in to land at lorville and rushing it a bit as you got to go to the pub quiz.....and accidentally crash your cat into one of those crane things on the surface and blow up. Bye bye Cat. Bye Bye Cargo.

Next day - you think right get back on it straight away, get in me freelancer and back to it build that cash back up so I can get back in me cat again!!

Then when coming into lorville you accidentally press the throttle the wrong way just as your coming down, crash into the building and blow up. By Bye freelancer, by bye cargo.

Then you press F1, see that you now after all that work, have less money than your starting cash.

And quit.

Your high risks trading route is probably makes more but Scrap between Olisar and HUR3 R&R (I think it's HUR3? The nearest one after CRU) pays okay with no atmospheric tomfoolery.

Oh ya, those are the days. I started out with the complementary 5k aUEC worked it up to 200k aUEC crashed into an astroid coming out of quantum and find myself with 1 aUEC. Then there are the times I forget to refuel the StarFarer quantum tank and leaving Ita got to a R&R only to realize I don't have any cash not tied up in cargo.

Been there! And I've been left with 100 aUEC, never just 1 but that was just luck because I was also carrying way too much cargo for my cash reserves. I try to keep it less than 50% for a run. Problem is sometimes I get bold. It limits your returns, but it also limits the damage if things go sideways and they go sideways a lot. There's missions and mining to do to build up some cash. Sometimes that's acceptable.

It took me a while to figure out landing. I can now land as fast as on PO in any of the bases... except sometimes the Freelancer Max has launch problems at ArcCorp on Pad 3, and ends up stuck either between the doors when they close on me, or stuck to the wall. That is a problem with just that ship for me, and only pad 3.

You have to do the vertical landing SLOW. Really slow. You have no room for error in some of the pads. I revert to the keyboard throttle, and use the exterior top view to line up against the pad. Make sure your ship isn't rotating oddly... gawd, the number of times I looked in a freelancer and discovered I had rotated 35 degrees for no apparent reason. It's far enough that my down is no longer the physics down, so it messes with your alignment. SLOW is the key to learn. SLOW is like 5 m/s or less. I don't take cargo in a ship unless I'm familiar with its foibles, and the foibles do change from place to place.

So many times I have overextended myself on cargo only to see that dreaded 30k come up, log back in and have to work your way up from less than 10k. Rarely from actual landing crashes though, maybe I am just too careful with my cargo ships. Heavens knows I have crashed my share of other ships.

The amazing thing though is that the days you can run a couple missions and have 25k+ aUEC to seed your trading adventures in no time! Or tag along with a miner and gather those FPS nodes for mad cash for fun. Or if you have a combat ship do a few bounties you're set! Or if you want to stick to cargo the delivery missions pay huge cash. Or if you want to do immersive missions you can do one of the NPC scripted missions that exist at pretty much every major landing zone. Or you can go do a bunker FPS mission for great money. Or you can go do comm array missions if they're available.

Or... I'm sure I'm missing some, but the point is I wouldn't let the cargo get you down. There is a lot more to the game.

Cheers,
Happy flying

Reststops are the most dangerous of them all, they leave you infuriating distance from the target, you got to spin around thrice and pray to RNGsus to find the landingpad, do your trade, head back and sacrifice a goat this time whilst praying to RNGsus, Jahmble and Allihn all at once to find the right way BACK to your ship. Preferrably before it gets stored. And there are asteroids everywhere. You'd think they're not indoors, but you can never be too sure.

The first time I tried to land in an R&R outside of Hurston and only after I got into the local gravity did I realize I was upside down. Planted the ship with its full cargo on its roof and who would have thought it lacked the thrust necessary to get off the ground again. Most painful reclaim to date.

Last patch, I stopped going to R&R's altogether, because the defencive guns were always shooting when I tried to leave. They weren't targeting me specifically but they shot me enough. That hasn't happened in this patch. But I have issues with game crashes at inopportune times - usually when I have a full cargo. It's incredibly annoying but this is just an alpha test... it's really important to keep that in mind. Sometimes I just pretend I have 5K aUEC, lets see how I can build it up doing just missions, or just trade or mining. So far, mining comes in consistently first at first, but it only works if I switch to trade runs somewhere between 60 and 100K. Waiting till 200K to switch makes money faster, but there's almost no way mining can keep up with the profit of trade runs... if you don't blow up or if the game doesn't crash (which has gotten a lot better fortunately).

The other thing that is annoying is real life(tm). I am working on several projects, and I love what I do. Lucky and cursed at the same time.

Yeah it's weird the way it takes you to the asteroid field then you have to QD from the edge of the field the rest of the way to the Rest Stop. If you are in a ship with a slow QD cool-down it''s a bit frustrating but I wouldn't say it was infuriating...?

you got to spin around thrice and pray to RNGsus to find the landingpad, do your trade, head back and sacrifice a goat this time whilst praying to RNGsus, Jahmble and Allihn all at once to find the right way BACK to your ship. Preferrably before it gets stored. And there are asteroids everywhere. You'd think they're not indoors, but you can never be too sure.
If you look at the ship claim screen it tells you which hangar or pad the ship is landed on and then the elevator takes you right there, I haven't had an issue with the ship storing but I don't tend to hang around...

...I must have just got lucky? Perhaps 3.7.1 fixed a bunch wrong with approaching and using R&R's and it's just better now...? Must admit I never did try it in 3.7.0 so don't have prior expiriance of those frustrations.

That exact same thing happened to me. As I was landing in Lorville, I went to put my landing gear on but hit the auto throttle by mistake. I hit the wall but was going so slow I couldn't believe my cat could blow up at that speed. Altogether 3 times I lost a full cargo on the cat.

The first time, as I quantum to Area 18 from orbit, during quantum, I either hit space debris, another ship, or flew into the planet. The 2nd time, I was so close to landing; as I press the auto land button I got the disconnect error. I came back to the same server thinking my cat would be hovering inside the hangar, but it was destroyed :(

All in all, the server was very stable compared to the past. I still made around 3M in just a few days of playing. It was fun while it lasted, but then there was nothing to spend the UEC on and so my trading run stopped and I went to seek adventure elsewhere.

It takes 52 seconds for me to QD again (or 72 if QD bugs only once), I think flying is a bit faster.

It usually goes like this: Terminal says "Hangar 03". I got to hangar 03, my ship is not in hangar 03. Idk, perhaps it's bugged for me specifically.

So, just now I took 300k worth of drugs to Grim Hex. On my Gemini. Everything is going as planned, I get to the terminal, sell the first 30k. Figure I'll either spend the next hour doing this or hop the servers a bit. So I hop server, I go to the terminal and... my ship is greyed out on the terminal.
Try some server hopping, relogging, folder deleting, no use. Still greyed out.

Also can't respawn it on Grim Hex, coz the "pads too small." (I disagree with Grim Hexes safety regulations, such milk drinkers.)

Damn.

Well, at least I got that 30k.

Gawd damn you 'aint got no luck.

Good testing though, I take it you have popped it in the issue counsel as something they need to take into account?
