I have a dream. A dream in which Owl finally has the ships he didn't know he wanted, and is satisfied with his fleet.
Hahah yeah right!
Ok, so my core fleet is here to stay:
Carrack with Pisces Expedition
Vanguard Sentinel with Harby BUK
Mercury StarRunner
I'll buyback my Dragonflies at some point, but no rush on that.
So here's the thing. I have about 450 credit kicking around, and I really, really have no freaking clue what I want. The professions I think I would enjoy are below, along with the ships I have that I feel for those roles.
Privateer: Sentinel
Smuggler: Mercury, Carrack
Information broker/espionage: Mercury, Sentinel
Explorer: Carrack, Pisces
Combat pilot: Sentinel
Salvager:
I'm looking to fill any gaps in game play, and I'm turning to you to throw ideas at me, because I fear I've pigeonholed my thinking. I'm not tied to those trades, so ideas for other aspects of gameplay are also appreciated.
I really like the Redeemer, and I can't wait to see what she ends up being. I would love a salvage ship, but something slightly bigger than the Vulture. Thinking medium sized.
What gaps do you see? What would compliment the fleet I have. What roles or trades would fit nicely into the professions I've mentioned?
A bean burrito with avocado, some custard donuts, and a beverage... A balance between healthy and delicious. That's a decent place to start before making important decisions.

If you want a Salvager the Vulture is pretty "affordable" for a single person industry ship and is pretty cute imo. Unfortunately theres no Mole analogue for Salvage, you got the Vulture and Reclaimer and that's about it.
If you were interested in some support, a Vulcan or Crucible might be a valuable addition. Vulcan is more patch jobs but can also refuel and rearm, while the Crucible can do much more intensive repairs (and can even hold an entire small ship like Hornet, Sabre, Arrow, whatever in its repair bay if necessary)

No clue. If you want to spend more time doing the Pew Pew then another combat ship would be nice to have.
As for Salvage the Vulture is a nice ship but if you want to go multi-crew then the next step up would be the Vulcan (rearm, repair, refuel).
You could also be a tow truck driver in an Argo SRV.
Solo mining in the Prospector or small multi-crew in the Mole. There is rumor of a small refinery ship
I'm wagering that a ship that you'll want is the surprise ship from Drake on the 30th, but the potential cost of that ship might prevent that as a possibility.
I recently consolidated most of my ships into a couple of packs, scoundrel and entrepreneur. with some misc fill out ships, single seat fighters and a cutty red. At this point I can pretty much do anything I want.
Have you thought about a part-time career in the travel industry? You could be a pilot taking thousands of players and npc to their favorite vacation destination.
The Genesis, on sale today for $400.
I can see you and your brother doing some light salvaging in the gladiator :)
Though a heavy-hitting bomber, the Gladiator has proven easy to modify and thus has become commonplace in the civilian market. The bomb bay can easily be converted for light transport. Many pilots choose to replace the rear turret’s laser cannon with a tractor beam, making it an ideal craft for light salvage missions
I think I still want my main profession to be cargo running of some sort, still up in the air as to how big etc... right now I debating a Mercury Star Runner, M2 or something close to one of those. As a secondary profession I am leaning towards S&R I picked up an Apollo Triage, at this point due to my lack of flying abilities lol or just training I am steering away from combat flights unless serving on a combat vessel as a turret gunner or some other station as needed.

With that much in credit you could get a reclaimer and have enough left over to buy a pieces to feed to it. I would recommend trading them all in for a ship pack and upgrading back though. Some of them save you quite a bit of money.

are you concierge yet? if you are you can get the exploration pack which has Carrack, Dragonfly black, terrapin, freelancer dur, tumbler RN SC PU and SQ42 it costs 695 has a value of over 900 usd
He can have another one. You can never have too many Sentinels.
I think the suggestion on the Large Ship isn't such a bad idea. Those things are going to be a PITA to grind for and there is nothing quite like throwing something the size of a small office block about before crashing in the most spectacular fashion.

Funny that, both these ships are on my radar. Still not sold quite yet. I always wanted a personal salvage ship, but the Vulture is a little small I think. I'd like more Vulcan/Mole sized. And the Vulcan is brilliant. Again, not 100% yet. But both are going on my list though.
Crucible is a ship that @Stevetank was really selling hard about a year ago. He's got some valid points about her.

I have the UEE exploration pack from a couple years ago. It's rich in savings, for sure. I was contemplating exchanging it for the 2948 exploration pack, but it doesn't make sense, as it offers exactly the same savings (265) but I wouldn't have the same upgrading savings that I already do. It also allows me to keep me core fleet and fuck around with the ships outside of the fleet.
