Hello Test,

I am sure that CIG has mentioned something on this somewhere so maybe I did not dig deep enough, but I have been wondering about quantum travel with a friend on board. Now I am talking about finished plans that have possibly been talked about, not current bugs that are being experienced when it comes to quantum travel. So let us use a Pisces and an Avenger Titan for examples. The Pisces has specific jump seats in the back that seem to be made for.. well jumping. The Titan does not have any such seats in the back for a tag along. Has CIG mentioned anything on if a jump seat or something of the sort is required when jumping with a friend for them to be safe, or do you just need room in your ship for them to stand in it? Thanks in advanced for taking the time to read this and hopefully give me, and possibly others, some insight!

I'm pretty sure they stated a seat or bed is required for them to be safe, but if they don't mind risking injuries they can be in unsecured common areas.
Do you by chance know if that is just for the initial jump, for instance we just have to be seated for the actual jump and then it is safe to get up from said seat or bed during quantum travel after the jump?

You do not need to sit or anything during a QT.
The ship is not moving during QT (ship have no momentum) it is carried in a bubble and as such when in QT you are not effected by forces.
Other than what you do to your self jumping, running or banging head to a wall etc,...

If you stand during normal flight you risk black out/red out a lot easier then when sitting down, situation when that could be is if you're attacked and need to do some fancy flying it's a good thing to sit down. Part from that normal flight should not effect you either standing or siting.. tho running in ship tend to be a bad idea, as it increase the risk of glitching through mesh...

So seat in ship are for normal flight, transport etc.. to keep you from injuries but normally or most of the time it is not needed at all.

CHEERS! 🍻

Awesome, thank you for the informing answer! Exactly what I need to know as I want an "in system" ship for traveling around a system with my brother and I. I have a Corsair for exploration or further travels so I just wanted a super basic side ship like a Titan or Pisces. I was just in my Titan today and there are 4 blue squares on the walls, 2 on each side of the cargo area, that are labeled S1-S4, so maybe that is seat 1 through seat 4 that are not functional at the moment.

Not sure if this is true or not but I believe the scale of injuries also increase when performing a wormhole jump point if your not seated. I thought I read it somewhere or heard it on one of the shows when they were talking to devs, but just like everything in the disclaimer, its all subject to change.

You're welcome!

No in the titan that is only cargo area as far as I know and there might be other modules for it in future like the stalkers holding cells or other functions.
But as I understand they abandoned the option to remove or add the holding cells and I never heard of any other function than it's a cargo area.( it might change in future )
The numbers might just be graphics to give a sensible look and feel on interior and have no real function.

Those might be the anchor points for the Stasis Cells for the Avenger Stalker...? The stalker will have holding cells to put bountyheads in.

Ah I did not think about jump points, but that does make sense as they said you will have to maneuver them yourself instead of being just one straight shot too.

Great information everyone! Thank you for talking the time to answer my initial question. What ships are you guys using for your every day intersystem travels?

Cutlass or the Pisces.
Yeah I am leaning toward the Pisces, I like the 85X too but it doesn't have any kind of interior beyond the seats for boxes or cargo, which I am not getting a small ship for cargo purposes but it would be nice to have just in case. So now I am torn between the two for my system travels.

It vary a lot, Sentinel, Cutlass, Titan Renegade, 315p, Pisces Explorer, Prospector, Mole... 890J when I haven't melted it ha ha... Caterpillar, etc..
I guess the ship I use the most are the Sentinel, Prospector, Mole, Titan Renegade then Pisces or 315 for short transports like surface to orbital station.
Mostly I pick the ship that works for what I plan to do ...most of the time I pick one with a bed... some time I just pick one to enjoy the scenery.

Damn you have quite the line up. I have Corsair, Vulture, and then deciding between Pisces or 85x for my short travels in system.I feel you on the beds, I wish there was a small ship in the size range like the Pisces that had 2 beds.

I got a bunch a ship so I can vary what I want to do as in limit the risk of getting bored on doing same thing.
Waiting to see my Carrack, The Star Runner and the Corsair think those will be used a lot once in game :D

Yeah I would go for the Pisces rather than the 85X even it's a nice ship it only got a cockpit no room for 2 peps and nothing else.
Well if you do it right for log out purpose you only need one bed, if you be two in the ship one log out first then the owner log out last.
When log back in owner need to log in first make sure all is good then any other should be able to log in to in same bed.

Yeah I am pretty excited to see how everything shells out with things not implemented, exploration, salvaging, etc.

Thank is a good point made with one bed, I wonder if that would work with the finished game or if the second person would just see my character sleeping in the bed. If it does end in a way where one bed can be used I may have to revisit the Avenger Titan or maybe even something like a 100i.

Yeah eventually one sleeping in bed when logging out will be a ai the replace you , tho how that will work is another story or if they ever make it a thing..
Might be it's replaced with ai for a short time then spawn out... or they stick to what is said that once bed is occupied with player that log out it's replaced with a ai .
But for now it works using same bed on some ships as logout...

Sure going to be interesting to try out salvage in the Vulture or Reclaimer as same how using the Orion will enhance mining the one ship I'm waiting to see is the Crusible.
Or farming plants and such in the Endeavor..mm... I got to many ships.. ha ha..

That is kind of what I figured would happen, an AI version sleeps in the bed until you log back in or everything despawns when no one is in the vicinity.

Yeah the Crucible interested me as well as the Vulcan for ship support, I also had my eye on the Apollo variants, I love support roles haha.

Funny you bring up the Endeavor. I plan to get most of my ships/vehicles with in-game currency because I love the satisfaction of finally earning that last buck and walking off the lot with hard work in hand, plus it gives me loads of content to work for. I have the Corsair and Vulture to start off making money, and my brother has a Cutlass Black. First goal that we have planned for when the game actually releases is grinding however we find most fun and rewarding to save up for the Endeavor. We really want to space farm and then make most of our money off of that for whatever the heck else we want to do. That is the plan for now anyways, who knows how that will evolve with more information and content being released.

The Endeavor was one of my first support ship I had my eye on after the Crucible, since it got so many ways to be operated it was to good to pass up for me..
So I might end up having a second Endeavor base ship eventually so I can have different purpose for them and not have to swap modules all the time..
If I get a smaller ship for medic support it'll be the Apollo Medivac for sure.. not to fancy about the RED cutty but then who know how things change.
Think Exploring is what I do most but that's mostly cause I like to know what's around the next bend collecting info about places that are profitable.
Once game is released I have no idea what I do but I know I be farming and doing a lot a research on the Endeavor and also mining and hulling cargo..
I see it as a hobby and I like to keep my option open for various game play I hate being restricted on what I can or can't do so I rather start out having most ships I want and it help the project.

Yeah exploring in the Corsair is what I am looking forward to the most with a little side of Vulture action when I find some good wrecks to salvage.

I definitely can respect and dig having access to all those activities from the get go, I myself considered it with adding things like the Vulcan and Apollo to my fleet. For the time being though I decided I am just going to get most of that stuff in game as I prefer smaller crew ships so they should be less of a grind than the big boys, except the Endeavor.
