You no longer have to spawn at PO for your first log in.
It now gives the following options for your first spawn point:

• New Babbage
• Area 18
• Lorville
• *PO (available 3.8, but appears to be removed as an option 3.9)

So you can start off at an area that has missions that interest you.

I've seen comments in Spectrum indicating that CIG mentioned recently that they plan to remove PO sometime after the new location on Crusader is implemented, though I don't know where CIG stated that.

That's interesting - are the planets orbital stations available for Spawn, or is it just the ground? I always spawn at Oli as I prefer to stay Space-Side, I can't be arsed with all that tedious climbing in and out of a gravity well.

Nope, but only have to get to 10k now to QT instead of 100k.

As my fat bastard Starfarer may still have issues with that I'll take my Aurora to the orbit station and spawn from there. Who wants to be marooned on some pitiful mud ball when you have the glory of infinity to call your home?

And the game is still riddled with 30k crashes, I said before 3.9 went live I wouldn't waste my time on a game that crashes when I play, the constant starting over when I only have a few hrs to play isn't worth it, hope everyone is having fun I will be moving on until they get something more stable.
