... but even then, all they've done is made the Lancer MIS the ship to beat in the verse ...
when they announced the 'Lancer MIS I thought it would be overpowered AF, but they would keep it that way because it was only avaiiable in limited numbers

of course I bought one, because with my piloting skills I need all the help I can get

more and more it looks like I was right about the first part, but now anybody can buy it

so now I'm crouched over, head in hands, waiting for the nerf bat to strike

all that said, anyone that thinks ships and weapons will ever be 'balanced' is dreaming

CIG benefits financially if the optimal fleet composition keeps evolving

it's called 'planned obsolescence'

I sympathize with the MIS but I would note for combating small ships rather than medium, the Shrike may be a better choice. It can't fling 6 missiles at once, but two is enough for most small ships, and it has other advantages. It is very fast and even more stealthy than the Lancers, which is saying a lot. If I were going to be playing cat and mouse by popping in and out of stealth while someone hunted me (shades of WWII sub v destroyer battles), I would want the Shrike over the MIS. Like the Khartu-al, if you put industrial A Ultraflows in it, it will still disappear at 3 km, but the up side is, it will then dump heat so fast that even after using the afterburners it will be able to restealth.

I haven't seen anyone do a tutorial on the Khartu-al and Shrike wearing ultraflows for instant cooling, but I have seen vids of an Arrow pilot doing this, and he made his opponent swear up a storm, disappearing again and again and again, and generally making it impossible to get a missile lock on him. Very few ships can do this, and the Shrike and Khartu-al do it better than the Arrow.

PTU 3.14 is now moved to full open to all backers, that means that everybody is allow to try it.... and that also mean that the actual public release is closer. :love:
Great news, by the time I get back home in 2weeks it should be live!
Can't wait to be blown away once again by a new location, especially that it's cloud city!

Lots of positive response to the new combat system online. People are totally digging it and turrets have come into their own. I'm still frustrated it looks like we'll never see 3-5km range on standard guns again. OTOH, missiles seem to be working better. Just seems a shame an S5 laser cannon has such crummy range.

I'm definitely not on the "digging it bandwagon."

CIG hasn't gone into weapon and shield manufacturers differentiations yet, so there is still a chance there will be specific manufacturer lines of weapons that will, especially considering there was some feedback in Spectrum from CIG reps talking about the work they're doing on the Combine to make it more purpose built for anti-ground personnel and less effective against ships.
