I wonder if they will introduce anything in the future as the SEC has on the stock market to prevent these kinds of large quick movements.
I highly doubt it because it would require the cooperation of all the exchanges which will never happen.
For example, the NYSE sees a 7% crash, they halt for 15min. A drop to -13% will give you another 15min halt, and then a 20% drop will halt of the remainder of the trading day.
This allows news to disseminate, panic to settle and orders to be prepped to either buy or sell upon reopening.
In Crypto there is no single authority, so if Coinbase halts trading, everybody just goes to Kraken or what ever other exchange is still running.
