I used to have a job at a recycling plant crushing cans. I had to quit because it was soda pressing.

This. I stopped paring my socks as a form of amnesty so not I don't know how many I don't have, but I do know I have an absolute tonne of plastic lids without partners.
I just buy the same brand of sock over and over again so they're all the same and matching doesn't matter.
Also, I'm alive!
The issue I have is by the time I need to get more socks the previous brand doesn't exist anymore. Fast fashion, amirite? Anyhow it's either drop a 50 on socks every couple of years or have the Ulimate Unmatched Madness and an exponentially expanding set of Tupperware lids without pots. 'aint no one has that kind of monet to drop on socks... soon I'll have so many lids I'll be able to tile the bathroom with them.

BTW, does a new shitbox BMW count as a doodad? Also it came with a bunch of mystery wires in the trunk.
Doodad is synonymous with gadget, so a part of a car that you have either forgot what it's' called, or never knew. Other names, doohickey, thingamabob, thingamajig... all pretty much synonyms. The entire BMW and the like, I think shitbox is probably a pretty good choice. It depends how you think about your car, say it like you mean it and people will understand.
