@FZD I was ready to apply the upgrades to my Titan to chain towards Cutlass Black. However, I noticed that 120-month insurance is not indicated on the upgrade even though I say that as part of the warbond upgrade. I have both 325i and Herlad CCU. Is that a bug and I will get that upgrade or am I missing something? You have pointed that out as a recommendation in the other CCU upgrade thread.

Also, I picked up the Legionnaire to upgrade to a higher ship. However, that ship is not in my hanger because it is not released yet. Instead, I have a Vanguard Hoplite. Do I need to wait till Legionnaire is released to start the upgrade path? I do not see the hoplite in my hanger to upgrade.

1. 🤷‍♂️
2. You have a Legionnaire in your hanger but a Hoplite as loaner in LIVE. You can CCU the Legionnaire in your hangar anytime. The Hoplite will disappear as loaner.
Thanks for the info. I was able to discover how to do the upgrade. The good news is that I will be upgrading to Vulture. It has Prospector AND Buccaneer as loaners. Happy day! :)

When you buy a CCU upgrade, on the screen (in very small writing) it says it only upgrades the ship and anything that came with the ship will remain the same. As an example I purchased a "Warbond 315P to Nomad CCU" (which comes with LTI)..then bought a 315P which only came with 120 mth insurance. When I apply the CCU I now end up with a Nomad with 120mth insurance AND LTI.

Insurance are stacking but only the highest prevails. They will remove at some point (said in one of my concierge tickets) the multiple insurances showing but the highest.

Yeah, otherwise insurance would be forever...plus 120 months lol

@Starooqi Yeah, as others have pointed out, the insurance not being mentioned in the CCU upgrade screen is just a visual issue. It will still add the 120-months to the package.
If it doesn't, however, contact support and they should sort that out for you (though I've heard it takes a good long while to get a response occasionally).

And another issue is that the package will show your original insurance, and the 120-month insurance. So no need to panic about there still being the original either. And when you apply two of that kinda CCUs, there'll be 2x 120month insurances. This does not, however, mean you get 20 years of insurance, it'd be nice if it did, but you only get one insurance (and it'll be the highest on that package, so, 120 months).

Here's a question...
I upgraded the Titan to CB a while back. Could I melt that one-link-chain, apply the store credit towards the CB/Mule package and pay the extra $20, then grab a cheap starter to replace the original package for login? I'm concerned I can't use it on the package since the Mule is still WB. Hope that makes sense.

You can't melt one link from a chain, you have to melt the entire thing. This would mean you need another game package (I'm guessing that Titan is part of your game package).
Well, I think you acknowledged that, but just to be clear.

As for CB/Mule package, note that there are two: One that says "Warbond" and comes with a considerable discount and LTI, and one that has no discount and 120-month insurance. The one that says warbond, that's a discount for spending fresh money - store credit is no good there. But you can put store credit towards the other package, though I'm not sure if you can get by with just extra $20 (I've got my store in Euros, we likely have different tax rates, and I got no idea what your melt value is, so maybe you were looking at the normal package and that $20 is correct, but just pointing out incase you were looking at the warbond version).

And finally, not to be a downer but you're a couple days late. Of course the CB/Mule package is still available, but if you were to say, replace your game package, well, the Pisces starter (which had a pretty nifty discount) seems to be gone...

Hmm...

You say you got CB already? So you're not in a rush for the sake of getting access to a CB, right? How about just grabbing a warbond Mule? You get an LTI and a bit of a discount. Then you can wait till IAE closer to xmas, melt the game package, grab a discounted game package (Likely with a 120-month insurance to boot), and use a combination of store credit from the melted game package to buy regular CCUs, and warbond CCUs (they cost $5-$10 new money and you get $5-20 discounts) to upgrade the Mule to... whatever it is you were planning on upgrading it to.

Thanks, that's about what I suspected, but wanted to be sure before I made any moves. You are correct, my game package was the Titan, which I CCUd to the CB. I picked up two Mules during ILW: one to keep, and one for an LTI CCU (no plans, just to keep in my back pocket). The CB/Mule package was looking like I could convert the $100 I already invested towards my existing CB into additional value over what I already have, while minimizing new money. Alas, no.

Appreciate the feedback!

Oh, I normally wouldn't tell others what ships they should or shouldn't keep, but I think I should just point out that the in-game price of the mule is likely going to be like 50k aUEC. The ground vehicles are, at least at the moment, just incredibly cheap in game. Meanwhile you could get just a $5 CCU to 100i, which has an in-game value of 654k aUEC. So, y'know, I'm not telling you to not keep it, I'm just... strongly advising to consider upgrading it. And not to 100i specifically, perhaps some other ship, just using 100i as an example.

You're of course free to disregard this, and I'll do my best to remember not to bring it up again. Oh, if you feel like you need to have it handy for now, you can just get a CCU and not apply it, let it sit in the hangar and you can continue driving around with the Mule until you've bought like #2nd and #3rd in-game. Just idling unapplied in the hangar is what most of my CCU's are doing (I'm slowly building even more powerful CCU discount chains with warbond CCUs from events, and some speculation on non-flight ready and concept ships. Though these start to be pretty mature). Well, might be a bit pointless to have a CCU to permanently available ship sit in the hangar, but, y'know, in case you wanted to get a more limited CCU during an event. Or perhaps just as a reminder.

EDIT: Or, maybe I misunderstood and you just meant that 'keep it for now,' which is a good strategy. Patience grows the most beautiful CCU chains.

I'll take all the advice I can, especially since I have no real idea what I'm doing with CCUs! I don't know just how much stock to put into LTIs (even 10yr insurance will be quite a lifespan for the game), but I figured it won't hurt to grab a couple affordable ones to hold in reserve. I imagine, as you've said, the Mule will be relatively cheap in game, and there may be something else in the future I'd want to apply the LTI to. You never know!

This sorta depends on how much you think you're committed 'long term' to the game. I really don't think LTI is that big of a deal, because I think 'in game' insurance will be something rather reasonable. On the other hand, LTI is just awfully nice for peace of mind. Considering the fact that I've ALREADY been playing this game for 10 years, it's suddenly not all that long. On that other hand that's 10 years of insurance after launch, which might easily be 25 years form today, which is a pretty long time. . . so I guess I'm no help at all, sorry! :P

That's very much how I see it. I'd also imagine "insurance" will be relatively cheap. It costs CIG nothing to offer, and the cheaper it is, the more players will buy it. It'll be one hell of a passive income stream, if they play it well. I'm surprised they already haven't incorporated an external advertising system. Obviously ads would have to match the aesthetic, but tons of potential there.
