I regret to inform due to circumstances beyond my control a budget of ticket+accomodation+travel+food\drink coming to 1000+GBP I won't be attending this year's convention despite it being in the country I'm in.

Have fun all who can get there in person, maybe next time :glorious:

Yep same for me - pricing is crazy for 2 days in a convention centre I'd rather spend the 1000 on a 10 day holiday somewhere warm and sunny :/

I could have saved up a little pot with some advanced notice, but the month they put the tickets on sale was in the same month they sold 'em and I'd just a couple of days earlier donated a fair chunk to a family member to help out with car issues and other debts, so I'm just putting it down to the universe doing all it can to keep me away this year.

Suffice to say with omens like that I won't be entering any competitions to win a ticket if there are any! :glorious:

So here's an idea... who wants to book a village hall somewhere equidistant from all of us all and put on a coffee morning/mini watch party? We can have village fete games like Ring Toss and Splat The Rat, a Bric-a-brak stall and home-made cakes on sale for 50p a piece. It'd be like the TEST version of Drakes IAE Defence Con.

Hmmmm, I'm in Lincolnshire which currently puts us somewhere round Birmingham way...? Depends where everyone else is from?

*disclaimer: my incompetence by far outshines my idea generation so this may not go well at all.

Hey mate, are you coming again?

Last Manchester CitCon was very cool, despite Carrack being delayed and few other disappointments.
Pre-show party with the CIG staff was great.

This is one of the coolest fuckin pics on this entire site o7

I told CitizenMom and CitizenGunnar we were going to finally visit our ancestral isle and started planning, then saw that not a single Man City fixture was going to be held in the month of October? Not sure how that works. Might be able to swing a two week holiday to catch a match early the following month but if not we'll have to wait til the next Manchester Citizencon to kick two items off the old bucketlist in one trip. I really wanted to go this year because I'm pretty sure it will be the best yet, with the most actual content, and things to do :) October is coming up fast tho. G's bday is October too and he really, REALLY wants to go to a Citcon though LA ones are so much more affordable.

Will it go Germany>Austin>LA? or anyone know the "rotation" ?

Transportation and key locations

Unless you have any physical disabilities, you can reach all key CitCon locations on foot.
For example, it's exactly 1 mile or 1,500m from the Piccadilly train station to the Moxy hotel on Atkinson street.

Alternatively, you can take a tram or a bus. There is even a free bus, which can be used to travel around city centre:
https://www.manchester.gov.uk/info/500351/public_transport/8637/bee_network_free_bus

The easiest way to get from Manchester Airport to the city centre is by train. Trains run from Manchester airport to Manchester Piccadilly every 10 minutes, 7 days a week, and the ride takes around 20 minutes.

It's possible to go straight to Oxford Road station instead of Piccadilly? That's way closer. Also what's the best way to get the train tickets? via an App or...
