Any guesses about a surprise ship this IAE?

And really, why do we need them anyway? Star Citizen is hardly about to become Elden Ring.
If they are smart, they will implement situations where the atmosphere in an area is hazardous and will easily ignite. That would force people to use melee weapons lest they deal with a grenade's worth of detonation with each muzzle flash.

The game can barely handle knifes, and you people want dual katanas.
Damned straight! Swords are silent, use no ammo & can be damaged if used incorrectly as well as through use, so they'll be perfect for stealth ops, especially after the "wear & tear" enters the game. Odds are that they'll take the place of a primary weapon, so a stealth assassin set up wielding the crossbow, a sword & a knife would be a perfect combo. Perhaps add in smoke grenades for the sakes of concealment, distraction & evasion & you'll have a future ninja in the making.

I love your imagination, that’s inspired, but don’t go saying things like that where Chris Roberts might get to hear them.
Haha I think we're safe, because I believe I recall them mentioning something along those lines while talking about life support and room pressurization. The system already tracks not only the internal air pressure, but the atmospheric gasses and their concentrations as well. The hard work was already done when they thought to make those fields on the original design spreadsheet....hopefully.

So... there will be future opportunities to flick a cigarette into a room and watch some suckers burn?
Sounds like lots of fun! :like:

Note, no pilot controlled guns on the paladin. It requires a crew of 4

Think of it as an anvil Connie, but the main weapons are turret based and require a dedicated gunner
In fact, my recommendation is a pass. Unless you absolutely want that 4xS5 turret to be able to point anywhere on the top of the ship, it takes more crew, has less missiles, same weapons (edit, sorry, turrets are 1 size upgraded from the Connie) same shields as the Connie andromeda, but lacks the snub, the cargo capacity, the capability to use your 4th as an engineer without loss of firepower, and the fact that it’s near the same price, the Andromeda just seems to be the better deal overall

It’s like the hurricane vs the Hornet. Near same firepower, but needs an extra someone to use it

Look at the wording here though: "Each turret hardpoint can be controlled by a dedicated crew member, ensuring the pilot focuses on flying when fully crewed and the gunners don’t miss a thing."

Almost sounds like the pilot can use the side weapons when not fully crewed.

Weasel words and marketing bs. There will be no pilot weapons, because they can think of no other way to force multicrew.
The stuffing people into turrets fetish is obvious again.

"Each turret hardpoint can be manned by a dedicated crew member, allowing the pilot to focus solely on flying while gunners maintain pinpoint accuracy. When operating with a smaller crew, the pilot can take direct control of the wing turrets, ensuring no defensive position is left unmanned."

Since I'm not sure about it, I picked up a $10 CCU on store credit to hang on to until more is known. At this point, other ships look like they're its equal for that role if not better.

Well....looks like they rolled that pilots on controls only decision.

Now this is what I've been thinking the Freelancer and other MISC ships with cheek weapons like the Starfarer and Starlancer were going to have, it would make the Freelancer a really interesting multi-crew ship and explain the 4x cockpit seats if when solo those guns are limited motion pilot gimbals and when manned full motion independent turrets.

Now it's officially in the Paladin I can't see a reason why they wouldn't do this for those cheeky MISC crates.

That's not the text that was in there to begin with.

They certainly changed that quickly eh? Was there an uproar on Spectrum?
