BOTH CARDS ARE THE SAME PRICE. ( MAYBE 25 to 50 difference depending on were you get them from)

Aw man this slaps me in the face, I literally just installed a 390 gaming edition, I didn't spend the money on a 390x but I'm wondering if I should have went with a 970. With those kind of differences does it translate the same way on the lower end cards? Of course I'm running with no issues on all high, I'm just wondering for the sake of knowing I didn't get shafted as hard as almost 50% power difference.

Since you can't hold the Fury till September I just bought a 980 Ti fully water cooled.
Boom motherfucker.
1500MHz overclock here I come!

Will benchmark as well, since my system is only being necked by the GPU in SC
Can do 4k and 1440p
When I'm home I'll play counter strike at 600frames on a limited 60fps monitor because FuqYOU console peasants.

Just wait for DX12. It seems to be favoring AMD cards a lot.

DX12 will favor any system with more cores.
More CPU cores, more GPU cores, more GPU compute cores.

It is like you would compare AMD cpu vs Intel CPU now, and there was some magic API that would turn the tables.
Intel single core performance is much better than AMD.
But AMD has more cores for example.

It could be same with nVidia (Intel) and AMD (well AMD :))

Also that is another thing to mention. R9 Fury X has 12_0 support for DX12 were the 980TI has 12_1 support.

Nvidia made a statement a couple weeks ago that they wouldn't be pushing out a true DX12 patch until they were sure it was finished. This was in response to the last few patches being real crappy in dx12 performance. I think that it actually works worst now than prior patches.

Havent finished it yet, but in simple benching, the 980ti pulls off about 25 to 34 frames in star citizen, Hanger and both maps.

R9 Fury X at 4k is like 10 to 15 frames in hanger, not even gonna bother benching the maps.. just gonna call it unplayable. (y)

NVIDIA master race
You mean "exploitative, anti-competitive race". Nvidia had next to no role in prompting Microsoft to develop dx12. :|

That said, I expect the fury to do better as driver optimizations are implemented.

dont worry,t he 390 gets INSANE Boosts in dx12 performance/api.

As for 980 Ti, i hope OP is luckier than I was. I had 1 die 1 week in.
I still have tons of driver issues, driver crashes, and so on with SLi Enabled. Happens disabled but less frequently.

As for DX 12 support, he is right

Graphics card Graphics Core Next Architecture DirectX feature level
Radeon HD 7000 series GCN 1.0 DX12, feature level 11_1
Radeon HD 7790 GCN 1.1 DX12, feature level 12_0
Radeon R7 260 (X) &360 GCN 1.1 DX12, feature level 12_0
Radeon R9 270 (X) & 370 GCN 1.0 DX12, feature level 11_1
Radeon R9 280 (X) GCN 1.0 DX12, feature level 11_1
Radeon R9 285 & 380 GCN 1.2 DX12, feature level 12_0
Radeon R9 290 & 390 (X) GCN 1.1 DX12, feature level 12_0
Radeon R9 Fury (X) GCN 1.2 DX12, feature level 12_0

Also it doesn't really matter... Both dont 100% support DX12. I'm thinking of selling my i5/mobo/and 2 980Ti's...

Maybe jump on skylake and 2 Fury Nano and make a really sick SFF mATX setup.

I've had SLI and Xfire setups.

Generally they were equal experiences but lately my SLI experience has been far worse than xfire.

When Xfire doesn't work I just get worse performance... With SLI I just get tons of graphical glitches or driver crashes now. Also I don't do heavy OC's on them since most of my cards were factory OC'd.

I've had dual:
8800GT (1 Died)
GTX 260 C216 (1 died)
GTX 470 (1 died)
6950 (worked fine most of the time)
7950 (worked amazingly well and I got a VERY sick deal at the time around 75 bucks cheaper each than norm)
Titan X (returned)
980Ti (1 died)
