So apparently Atlas Defense Industries had a welcoming seminar meeting yesterday and the entire gist was telling their fresh members what they are NOT allowed to do in ADI.

One such restriction placed on new members was the 'Certifications' for flying ships. Apparently in order to be allowed to fly your own personal ships (not org ships) each and every member has to earn a certification from one of the staff members. So say you are a new member who just backed Star Citizen and want to fly your shiny new spankin' Freelancer, well sorry you can't too bad.

While I appreciate them trying to take Star Citizen seriously...man that just seems like a horrible way for introducing members into the game -_-

tl;dr TEST is Best?

How do you enforce something like that? Its your own damn ship.

"Hey guys people are not dropping out of our org fast enough. How can we escalate this?"
"Lets make people get bullshit certifications on their own ships that we make up. That will encourage them to leave real fast!"

I guess that's not too terribly different from the orgs that require a flight test to get in. I guess it's a way to be exclusive without saying your exclusive, so you get the benefit of.... Um... Okay, I got nuthin. What purpose will that serve?

Things like that would make me want to join the org, just to do things against the rules and watch people get their panties in such a bunch it collapses into a black hole.

I might just buy another account so I can test this theory....
"Hi I'm RudeCromagman, and I just bought this Constellation something... who wants to fly with me?"
"You're not certified!"
"Hop in and let me take the test"
"Okay, but we're watching... hold on... are you set on a course for the sun?"
"no"
"But why is the sun....arrrgh it burns"
Burning "Yes"
