Just hanging around and waiting for ships to be fueled up?
I believe you can take your fuel and sell to NPCs on planets/stations and head right back out.

Also, if they allow you to store "barrels" of fuel you could then transfer from Starfarer and load up on a Carrack so you don't need to stop and fuel in deep space.

Hmm. How would you go about refuelling a ship with just your hands and some barrels?

Haha. Always Sunny: a solution for every problem.
what shall I do with this big space cow? Just hanging around and waiting for ships to be fueled up? And whats about the crew - what are they doing all the time? For sure I want to own *one* larger multicrew ship
I'm kinda thinking the same way Sam. I went to a lot of trouble to acquire my Star-G (again, kudos to @Grimbli for the find), but I didn't want to end up with multiple large ships. Now I have a Star-G, as well as a Redeemer>Carrack CCU and and an Andromeda>Caterpillar CCU. I'm only going to be using one ship at a time, so what does the rest of my fleet do while I'm flying one particular ship?

I have to respect what CIG has done: they've pushed people who we're on the fence about certain ships (like me) over to the buying side. We're worried the price will go up, so it's justifiable to buy that ship now. Right? Right?!?!

I never thought twice about owning a Starfarer until I heard the price was going up. Well played CIG, well played.

I'll be flying ships based on my mood or needs. Today might be a Reclaimer day or a Carrack day. Maybe I'll need some fuel and use my Starfarer or want to overclock and jump on an Endeavor. Maybe I'll just crew someone else's ship.

I like variety and the ability to dictate my own enjoyment. Which is a reason I love TEST!

Don't feel bad about multiple big ships, you can always loan them out.

I agree with this... I will be the loanee as I can't afford all of those ships. It is a *great* reason to be a member of test with more than 9000! members.

Cannot fly them all at once but also having some variety might make it more interesting to!

Sigh. You're both right of course. Silly me. Guess I'll keep that Beerfarer. It was a fair amount of work that went into getting her.

You are just the man for me then. Zapp, look no further than your friendly neighborhood, over-ship-stocked Canadian. I shall be the loaner to your loanee. I shall provide the milk, you shall make the butter (there's a sex joke in there somewhere).

Yes my friend, you shall fly my ships. And probably for a pittance. Because I'll be looking to have fun, and what is fun without you? ;)

Side note: has anyone confirmed if there's a long-term loaner/rental mechanic being added to the PU?

A lot of us "acquired" Gemini when they mentioned the increase. We weren't given them from Starfarers.

But, yes, if you already have a Starfarer then it's cheaper now to upgrade.
Wait, I'm still kind of confused. I definitely upgraded from the anniversary Starfarer-base to the Star-G LTI when it was announced. I imagine a lot of people picked up Starfarer-base -> Star G upgrades then or got some (insert ship here) -> Star G upgrades during the 2015 anniversary sale. Did I miss that the Star-G was back on sale (and available for upgrades) during the announcement about it being in the Hangar for 2.3? I thought they were only selling the starfarer base (at an increased price). If the sold both the base at the increased price and the Star-G at the old price for that sale, that would have been very beneficial for people on the fence!

At any rate, I remember hesitantly committing to one during the Anniversary 2014 sale and then committing to the upgrade when the Star-G was announced, but I think I made a good call!

Can't wait to fill those 'uge tankers up with liquor!

Nope, you didn't miss a sale, I put "acquired" in quotes cause we used the Grey Market. As soon as I found out about the increase in price I scoured the Market for Andromeda to Gemini CCU and got a bunch for people. Was only able to get about 5 before everyone raised price to over $100 for them.

I'm looking at it @Grimbli, and the dollars say I may end up pulling the carpet out from under the Star-G in favour of a Carrack. I hate that, because of the effort, but fuck me running, the price tag to own it, plus the Carrack, plus the Caterpillar . . .
Sigh. Haha.
Adulting is easy compared to ship decisions. Ha

That sucks. There are so many ships we'd all like to have its a problem.

Although I do have a Carrack if you'd want to man that. Not sure how they're dealing with allowing people to take ships out of someone else's hangar, but you could use mine sometimes.

I hear you, my good friend IRL (and also Test/Steam/SC) Cyinni has always been the most interested in exploration. If he was asked for a list of features he'd want in a best-in-class, multi-crew exploration ship, the Carrack would tick every box and then some. It was his dream ship. If he could only keep one ship in his fleet, it would be that one. Knowing what he wanted, I would have suggested (and probably did) he melt anything else he owned (except for his package-containing ship) to purchase it when the concept came out.

In theory for me that ship would be the Vanguard, which I consider sort of the A-10 Warthog of Star Citizen. It's not really stealthy or speedy, but it's got a very specific niche that it should excel at. For the A-10 that is piercing armored vehicles, for the Vanguard it's long-distance fighter warfare and neutralizing mid-range ships (Connie & Tali). Out of the original ship offering I would have said the Connie fit that role, but once the Vanguard dropped, I knew. Right now in the baby PU it seems bulky and unappealing because it's like the giant catfish/goldfish in the small aquarium: It will need a larger area to function at intended. I'm not loving it in the baby PU, but I have faith that it will get some improvements before its final release.

Again, I concur and hope the Caterpillar gets some awesome improvements and re-tooling in the near future!

I would wait to melt the Star G til you're certain you want to get rid of it as its a CCU and you can't get that back. Maybe get a $0 ccu from another ship to the Carrack so you can change it later if you want.

Oh I'll crew with you. That's a guarantee. I'll probably end up buying my own anyways. I freaking love that ship. So much. Haha.

Also an issue of mine: deciding which fighter to keep. Lol. I have a Sabre. Haven't had a chance to fall in love with it though. Been in the field doing real army stuff, and will be for a while.
That being said, I'm going to try real hard to love her. I really really want to. I just need to get home and fly her.

That being said, I already LOVE the Vanguard. I had one for a while, and I destroyed/crushed/decimated Vanduul swarm in that baby. I love her. So I may end up with her instead of the Sabre. Only time will tell.

Oh Fuck, there will be no melting anything for a while. Until the Carrack is coming of age, the Star-G shall remain in my hanger.
I'll use store credits to get my Caterpillar, as it'll be ready first. If I haven't fallen in love with the Star-G by the time to Carrack is hanger ready, then she'll probably get upgraded to said ship. Again, time shall tell.

Remember, the Carrack is probably months or half a year away from just Hangar ready. It's fairly easy to save up $350 in that amount of time, or more if it increases. You know you'll get all 3, don't worry about it.

So I had a SuperHornet -> Sabre CCU waiting. And a Merlin waiting for an upgrade. When I saw the SH would be back last weekend, I pulled the trigger and did Merlin -> SH -> Sabre. I'm not sure how well it performs in Swarm, but I'll tell you to fly it around the baby PU and maybe get into a little dogfighting. That's how I fell in love with the Sabre during the recent all-ships test and decided to finally pull that trigger! I think that might also do the trick for you! When you get back--- safe travels until that day!

Glad to hear you are also a fan of the Vanguard! I don't think I could pick between the Sabre and the Vanguard, haha!

You're an asshole. Haha. ;) You're also probably right. Dammit. And I don't have to save up $350. Just $250. I already have the CCU from Redeemer. *sigh*

Thanks for the well wishes. I'll stay safe, I promise. Live for battle runs are happening for the next week. 1000lb bombs from the F-18's, the 777's dropping arty, Leopard C2's raining 105mm HE shells, LAV III's with the triple 'pop pop pop' of the 25mm, infantry lighting up the soft targets, and lil' ol' me breaching antitank obstacles with my Badger AEV. All coordinated in a symphony of beautiful destruction.

Great advice on the Sabre! I shall do just that. I'm looking forward to it. I fly HOTAS, so I'll monoboat that girl. I'm hoping those size 3's (m5a I believe?) from the Khartu-Al will be available in the REC store. No gimbals, just me dancing that baby through the stars, pew pew pewing to my heart's content. *Le sigh* I can see it now.

Glad to hear you are also a fan of the Vanguard! I don't think I could pick between the Sabre and the Vanguard, haha!
God, I pray that I don't end up trying to decide between both of them. Or worse . . .buying both. Haha. SC life is complicated enough.
