Seems that hacking tools are already out which is weird for a game which gets regular wipes.
its better they are layed out now so that the dev team can combat it.Seems that hacking tools are already out which is weird for a game which gets regular wipes.
you know there being known hackers in SC they can monitor their account and gain valuable data from the hackers. Id say this is kind of a win if they let them stay.If CIG can prove that someone is cheating/hacking with absolute certainty, that person should have his account permabanned. No ifs, buts, and no refunds. Period.
That is a dangerous game as it enboldens others to cheat which destroys a game faster than becoming abandoned by the developers. It's why I was glad that SC was saying that they were using a server side authoritative solution as it cuts down on so many hacks leaving aim and wall hacks the only real viable hacks. While still crappy in a fps they are harder to prove from skilled players. But the hacks shown show a client validation which allows for far more detrimental hacks that just break the game and fun experience.you know there being known hackers in SC they can monitor their account and gain valuable data from the hackers. Yeah its a dangerous game but definitely necessary as no one knows what hacker's techniques they are going try to use to exploit the system and system vulnerabilities. Its much harder to catch people exploiting the system if there is a huge community after a go live date. all of the "Live" releases are not the true coded information and can be damaged and regenerated with a clean wipe. Once the game is live you are relying on backups which could already be compromised or exploited. that's why i believe catching hackers now before data/coding is set in stone is a huge win vice after live. That is a dangerous game as it enboldens others to cheat which destroys a game faster than becoming abandoned by the developers. To this day it still baffling to me how much game development trusts the data sent from a client. I understand the server economics reasoning but it seems to pale in light of the game community collapsing due to widespread hacking. So much time and energy is spent on attempting to verify the client is safe as a weak bandage over a fundamental failure that is so well understood in the programing industry as a whole.
At 15 minutes I shut this off. Three thoughts 1) Cheats are real, have been and will be around for years. So are permabans. 2) CIG has a team who is actively engaged in dealing with this. I am not privy to their strategy but gathering information is vital to any actions, and the PTU builds especially have intense monitoring. That QR code takes them back to a stored data stream. This guys says there are bad actors inside that have allowed this to happen. If so, this is pretty huge news. I think it's more gross incompetence than willful assistance but... he does have some points with past CIG behaviors on bad business practices. Anyways, hackers have basically admin access in game right now.

Right? Wow, that dude likes the sound of his own voice, and you can tell from the constant cuts that someone had to edit this garbage down by a lot (wouldn't surprise me one bit if it'd originally been over six hours of him rambling and pontificating.) He also kept going on and on about some major reveal from a Bar Citizen event that he'll get into later, but I never did find him actually going into the details of that major reveal (if anyone can point to the time stamp for this 'major reveal', I'll go back to check it out, but I'm guessing it boils down to: A person drunk at a Bar Citizen overheard some drunk people talking, and the first person took their conversation as complaining about another employee and accusing them of being involved with hackers.)At 15 minutes I shut this off. 3) I would suggest not wasting any more of your time with this self-important proof of the inadequacy of tin foil. If you want a reasoned discussion, Grolo put up some thoughts earlier on his channel about the recent cheating.
