Maybe. It depends on what it will be able to do, and how well it will be able to do it?

For instance, let's say that the "scout ship" has just a few S2 weapons, some sort of sensor pods for gathering data, and some sort of computer system to hold it...if they changed 350, that would be WAY too much (thinking around 200-250 for that). If it was a fully upgunned, much higher top end speeds, etc in exchange for the loss of drop seats, then that's another price.

Seriously, it's all about what they manage to put in the package...then how badly they nerf it.

i quite like the prowler design, the price for what you get though....i dont think they will be offering anything for 200 less then the current offering so i think it will be out of reach.

Yeah, “heavy scout” sounds full of awesome to me. Its current stealth is quite remarkable. I think it is the only ship with -65% EM, IR & CS. It has wonderful stats, decent handling and speed, and good firepower.

If I could give a wish list it would be a bed, head and galley, 3 bunks, 4S2x4 missile racks, a special sensor station that allows it an S3 directional suite, a small bay for a Nox (which is the only armed stealth ground vehicle) and greatly extended range, both hydrogen and quantanium tanks. 2 SCU storage internal and plates. If we’re wishing all crazy, how would a holoviewer upstairs be? Shades of the Sith Infiltrator.

It’s not just the seats that need to go but the side doors, so they could move the walls a little.

The other option is they could double down with weapons and make it Close Air Support. That would call on the grav package and make better use of it.

Imma guessing $500-550. They’ll get it if they load it nice. That’s not much in game money. Just running missions is granting 3-4M/hour right now. Most could earn that in a week.

This is the kind of ship you could raid Vanduul ground facilities in. Count me in!

Yeah, the term 'heavy scout' perks my ears right up...
So what makes a scout?
And how much can you add to that before it stops being one?
You want it sneaky, obviously. Gotta have good eyes to see far and all around.
Gotta need some speed once being sneaky fails you.
Depending on the role you might want some range.
And if the range is long enough you need to cater for basic human needs.
So a bed and a...err... waste removal facility. A fridge might be nice too.
A Nox bay might be nice but honestly, these days scouts are all about drones and electronic warfare.
Come to think of it, the Vanguard Sentinel IS a heavy scout, huh?

So I imagine the Prowler Scout to behave like a Vanguard Sentinel with less emissions.
Maybe an antenna array instead of the turret.
Or some warfare pods instead of the S5 guns? (Where'd that wailing in the background come from..?)
Come on guys, it's a scout, not a heavy fighter.

But you know what conversion I would rather see than a scout?

Imagine them side doors changed into bomb bays.

Here’s hoping that CIG doesn’t double whammy us with both Valkyrie and Prowler variants priced lower than the original ship hulls / load outs. A new same hull CCU would still be nice once in awhile. Though I still have some dry powder if not.

I wonder if the variant will retain the Prowler’s stealth profile though?

Honestly, if it doesn't keep the stealth profile, it won't be worth buying. Rule of Cool loses to actual in game performance every time for me.

Depends.
If it looses stealth because of the S3 shields and powerplant and the 2*S6 guns and the 2*S4 turret all while doubling armor but retaining speed and agility then...
...they may be forgiven for dropping stealth.
IF the bird gets a fridge too.
Can't have warm beer in a cool ride, can we? :glorious:

So, looks like the new variant has nothing but cargo grid. It’s taking criticism in another forum. Here’s some observations posted by me in that other forum:

“You can fly this over the battlefield and push bombs out the back, while nothing and no one can target you nor even see you. . .

Likewise, with its S5 guns and 3300m range, this ship has a couple kilometers it can fly around in while shooting, where it can’t be seen, even with shields on. It is a menace to all opponents. S5 weapons on a stealth craft is unique to the Prowler. With Attritions loaded, the Prowler’s pilot weapons burst at 4800, which is more than an Ion or Inferno, and the ship can’t be seen even with Idris Cap sensors. This is huge.”

Burst, straif, burst, straif. . .this is a better Ares than the Ares.

BTW, the current PTU Prowler now has four S2 shields instead of two. With four Umbras running it is still emitting just 2.6k EM and <1k IR. This is 12,400 shield with 1,288 refresh, plus the Prowler’s tanky 77k hull.

Cargo is an afterthought methinks. It will be a nice platform to bring hover bikes to the battlefield. (Let me recommend the Nox as it is the only stealth bike.). Rail guns, ammo, meds, whatever else your Nursa needs resupplied. It’s a good choice to try to dominate the airspace above, or maybe push bombs out the back. We’ll need to see if that’s possible. If it is, it’s our only stealth bomber. It’s a good choice to deny bombers access to the battlefield.

Much more importantly, it looks like a great attack platform against large and cap ships. Unless CIG has some surprises, I would choose this to attack a Hammerhead, Redeemer, Retaliator, etc. unless I had an Eclipse handy. It’s got much more stamina for PvE missions, etc.

Differences between this and the standard model: S5 guns replaced with S4, all speed and maneuverability stats reduced about 10%, stealth armor reduction bonuses to EM, IR and CS all reduced about 10%. Both 4.2 Prowlers add 2S2 shields so now you have 4. It’s in Erkul if you want to gaze.

Cool animation and design but I prefer the original for the better stats and guns. I do not know if they fixed all the bugs that plagued this ship so hoping someone here will take their’s out for a look see. It could be the real news is the original is now flyable.

As to the 4.2 Prowler base model, with Attritions and NDBs, 4 Umbra, Eclipse and 2 Nightfalls running, the EM=2.7 and IR=2.1. For all S, M, and L sensor arrays, the Prowler can reach with all guns while unseen. Against cap ship arrays the turret guns will not quite reach. However, with just the S5 guns the Prowler has higher DPS than the Ares and is faster, more maneuverable and invisible. With the Nightfalls running nothing in this ship should overheat and the sig is so low there’s no need to ever turn stuff off, save the Q Drive.

LOL.. 'heavy scout' indeed. A completely underwhelming cargo ship - smaller guns and larger signature than the base model, no amenities, and inadequate capacity for anything above beginner hauling contracts at 3x the price of a Freelancer.

I'm sure it'll find its way into some shenanigans, but color me unimpressed and a bit disgusted at the concept.
