Star Citizen encourages us to explore the 'verse, which is rewarding in both senses. We are away from 'home' a lot. Maybe all the time? I get that choosing your starting location should feel impactful and consequential - we're not all itinerant hoboes.
So, flying around doing stuff, if you have a few ships in your hangar and haven't claimed one this patch, you can have it delivered anywhere in minutes, free, at the click of a button.
News doesn't travel throughout a star system instantly (in game) but it certainly gets about. Contracts are quickly and easily broadcast between planets and systems, and some disappear when a player claims them.
But a paint scheme? Those don't travel well. If you have one, and want to apply it to your newly delivered ship, you have to trek back to your 'home' location to get it.
Why?
